>Is Goof Troop good?
It's a show. It won't change your life but it's not bad. The strange thing is Pete's family was a huge part of the show and are all but written out of the movies. I remember not wanting to see the Goof Troop movies because of the Pauly Shore dog being sold as Max's best friend in the trailer and it irritated me because PJ is Max's best friend. So I decided either the movie was canon or the show was canon and I chose the show.

It came before, the show was timed to match Goofy's 60th Anniversary (the pilot even has a nod to the date that Spoonerville was 'built on a reclaimed swamp in 1932').
It's an OK show, but wildly uneven from episode to episode. The pitch was initially supposed to be about the awkwardness of family angle but many more episodes just focused on Pete wanting to throttle Goofy while da Goof was barely aware of it. Part of me thinks Goofy Movie was made BECAUSE the TV show abandoned that concept pretty early on.

If you're looking for something with strong characterization and heart, then yeah, stick with the movie. Goof Troop was mostly a chaotic sitcom, here's a sample plot:
>Goofy is wallpapering his place and when he goes to get more supplies he gets mixed up with a counterfeiter who looks just like him. The local gangster gives him a bunch of fake bills to 'paper the town' which he interprets to mean 'buy out the wallpaper store'. Max tries tracking him down but encounters the counterfeiter instead and they take him hostage and bring him back to Goofy's place to see what he did with the money, eventually tying him up with their own garden hose. The wallpaper store calls the cops to the house as well once they figure out the money's fake. Max turns on the hose and eventually gets slingshotted around the scene as he unravels, tying up the criminals in the process. Then the police arrive and the reward money is given to the wallpaper store to cover the charges. Fin.

The reality they said a few months ago during the 30 year movie celebration
They simply focused on the main part, max and goofy and putting peg and pistol as some of the cartoon cast would take off the focus from the movie's development, they already were facing problems because of Powerline casting til MJ and Prince blessed Tevin, and tevin pulled the biggest troll in the world by 1:1 impersonating MJ's voice

The sequel is just rushed and forgotten, but still gave a good closure to max and goofy's relationship with max getting a nerdy supermodel redhead mother that looks like peg but better, still they put someone resembling roxanne and even put her in house of mouse, which is meant to be before a Extremely Goofy Movie.

Because of members of the audience that aren't familar with Goof Troop. The reference to characters who haven't appeared in the film (and won't appear later) is confusing. It does no good for the film at all. Maintaining a solid continuity with the TV series just isn't important.

You're seeing the movie as "the Goof Troop movie". It's not. It's just using the same idea (Goofy as a father) and re-using the work the TV series already did with that idea (name, character design cues of son character). The relantionship between Goofy and Max isn't even important in the TV series; it's a sitcom and Pete is more prominent in most plots.

It's using characters that only appeared in the show. It makes sense to assume that and if there's anything different or missing then of course people are going to wonder. You can be dismissive of it but for people that know of the show, and a lot of people know of the show and characters, it sticks out and causes them to wonder. IIRC House of Mouse also has Peg and Pistol missing but I don't know if PJ showed up in that show.

Sure but also like, anyone familiar with the show would see Max and PJ and the dynamic between Pete and Goofy and immediately think it had something to do with the show. The show wasn't exactly obscure, it was a flagship of one of the most popular cartoon blocks of its era.

It was based on the TV show but they fired everyone who worked on the TV show and hired a guy who had only ever done PA work on movies before so he didn't really care about any of the characters from the show or appealing to the fans of it. Even though it ended up working out the entire plot of the Goofy movie was actually him trying to specifically do something completely different and unrelated to the series. Originally it was just supposed to be like a TV movie for the series where they were all the same age and with the same cast of characters but the director managed to talk Jeffrey Katzenberger into letting him age all of the characters up and do something completely different.

In Goof Troop Max states he's: "11 and a half years old." and PJ is the same age as him which means he's also 11. Pistol is in Kindergarten so she's between 4 1/2 to 6 years old depending on how her Kindergarten works.

In A Goofy Movie it's stated that Max is 14, which means PJ is also 14 and Pistol would be 7 and a half to 9 years old and in an Extremely Goofy Movie Max and PJ are 18 or 19 years old which means that Pistol would be 11 and a half to 13 years old.

11 and a half would've actually been cute because then she would've been the same age as Max and PJ in the original series and they could've maybe teased a spin off.

That makes sense. When I was a kid you had to turn 5 by the end of the first month of kindergarten or you had to wait until next year to enroll, and there were only 1 or 2 kids that were 6 so being 5 is the most likely and considering they liked to use the "and a half" trope you're probably remembering correctly.

So that means Pistol would be 8 1/2 years old in A Goofy Movie and 12 1/2 in An Extremely Goofy Movie.

Kevin Lima himself said that he wanted to introduce Peg and Pistol in that film and they would have been different, but there was an issue with the time constraints of the animated film, so they focused more on the relationships
between Max and Goofy and Pete and his son Pete Jr. There just wasn't time to do both Peg and Pistol and have them on screen, but that doesn't mean they didn't know about them.
