Is it me or has a lot of the failure with Lola been writers trying to make her funny when she just isn't? She wasn't funny in the original Space Jam but that was fine. She worked as a character for others to play off of and react to her sexiness. She wasn't unlike Betty Boop in that regard.

That said, can anyone show anywhere post-Space Jam where she is legit funny? Closest I think she's ever gotten was the New Looney Tunes shorts but even that was just her recycling Buggs Bunny's tricks. I'd mention some of the earlier DC comics issues but those kept her sexiness intact.

The problem is twofold
You can't make her funny because she most often duos with Bugs, sometimes Daffy, and they'd mog her on comedy potential every time
You can't just make her a standard straightman because then she's just boring as fuck and not a looney character who fits in with Looney Tunes

Yeah that's true. In the 2011 show, most of the humor was Buggs reacting to his pain in the ass girlfriend. Pretty ironic given Daffy and Tina have the opposite relationship with Daffy being the pain in the ass yet he's hilarious.

As much as I like her, I get the feeling it's because no matter what, she'll just be mimicking another toon who already fulfills the role better. Like you said, she was initially made as bait and it's painfully obvious they don't know what to do with her anymore because they don't want to go back to that humor (with female characters anyway). It's kind of funny how Babs fulfills whatever kind of role they're trying to stick to Lola now at least, that's the impression I get.

Bugs gets bored really easily. Besides not wanting to be stalked, he likes Daffy and Lola because they force him into interesting scenarios he has to think out of. He can’t avoid them since he’s living with them or dating them so he will always have something he’s forced into
Tina sees Daffy and Lola as projects that she can fix overtime with the right guidance and is working to making them better, especially Daffy which she mentions is the reason she’s attracted
Both are large challenges for Bugs and Tina and they like being challenged, and make both feel smart in comparison. They are also just attracted to dumbasses
