What happened to funny animal adventure comics? Why did this whole genre basically cease to exist after the 20th century?

They're still making Donald Duck comics and that was a Scrooge comic. There's the Sonic IDW comics. Don't know if the horse comics are still going. And there's got to be several others from various smaller publishers.

Additionally back in the 2000s when kids did read the market was dominated by humans like Dork Diaries or Wimpy Kid, either because kids preferred humans or because none of the authors wanted to do it, only 2 sort of related comics like it existed.

I meant there was that Scrooge comic. The one with the Miller cover that looked bad. There's also the Rescue Ranger comics and Darkwing Duck is on his second series although I haven't heard anything about that lately. Why is /co/ forgetting about all of these? We used to have threads about it all.

Not the fucking garbage in america that are pimped to them now no.
But dogman and written things in games and social media? They read that all day.

Funny animal adventure stories and comics are STILL very popular with the child demo and adults who just want something fun or funny to watch.

BUT the furries, perverts, and no talent propogandists took over and now we have nothing.

People are so starved for just simple earnest safe stories that teach things and make people feel good that even the paint by numbers yet sincere sonic movie is doing gangbusters in theatres and on streaming.

The male population of those countries don't have a business sector that is openly hostile to them and puts out socially engineered slop by "people" who fundamentally hate men women children and normalcy.
>>149018378
If they just cut back on the sexuality and yiffing they could start their own little thing and sell that with ease

Bone stars anthropomorphic bones and it's arguably the top selling indie comic around.

They're still being made. A good number of them are coming from the US. Why are you people acting like it's dead and the fault of the US? Is it just one anon spamming this shit? Not only does /co/ not read comics it actively pretends they don't exist.

How did first person shooter games gain such mass appeal anyway? When I was growing up we had quake, unreal tournament, and counter strike, but only the real nerds played them. Maybe like 5% of all kids.

Still exists.

The Italians even suggested making some comics for an older audience in the style, but that triggered Management so hard that they reached across the pond and slapped the venture down.

It's split into three parts, the first of which is a swashbuckling story full of corruption, murder and vice, the second of which is a gag story set in a sprawling for-profit dungeon and is pretty light-hearted about people dying in horrifying manners and the third part, which is postapoc. Starts out pretty grim, but eventually more levity is introduced.
The rabbit is one of the principal characters of part three and is basically some kind of horny fantasy War Machine.

There are two major factors in what killed the funny animal market in the US.
The first and simplest is TV.The comics existed as away to promote these characters in a time where home video viewing wouldn't be an option. By the 70s, kids could watch these cartoons on TV at home. Not all the same funny animals, but it hit a similar niche,
The more complicated answer is Dell/Gold Key dying with the downturn in the comic market in the late 70s. And that happened with the slow death of newstand distribution. A lot of people seem to wonder why floppy comics are only sold in comic shops for the most part- this wasn't a random choice done to chase away normies, but due to the fact that newstands increasingly wanted less to do with comics- they were cheap and thus made little profit,
Newstands pushed for one of the worst decisions that would forever impact the market- they made publishers charge more. It wasn't an unreasonable price increase , but it was enough to begin to price kids out of the market. It also lead to the emergence of comic shops, since newstands would carry less variety of comics(as well as becoming less common place over time)
So you had an industry that basically left kids behind and never really tried to get them back, and priced them out entirely.

Gold Key eventually died when it couldn't find a way to distribute the comics decently anymore- basically killing a legacy from Dell where Disney licensed comics used to be the biggest in America, even into the 60's.
