>How does this work?

>It works like a community toy chest. In the /coc/ threads you are free to post whatever ideas/settings/characters you want, but you have to be OK with other people playing with them (tweaking them, putting them in stories, using them for things, etc.)
>There's no guarantee that what you post will catch on either.

>If the OC you are posting is YOURS for something you are personally doing, then it would go to the "How is your webcomic?" threads.
>If you just want feedback on an OC of yours, then it would go in the "donut steel" threads or drawthreads.

If the thread dies suddenly or you still want to discuss something when there's no thread:

Is it better for Jack to remain obvious of Aoko's possible crush on him or for him to realize it and think it might be nice dating her?
Things won't go smoothly either way.

If nothing else, Jack at the very least appears to be decently emotionally intelligent. I don't see much need in making him comically oblivious.

>>149020275
OK, that's good. It aligns more with what I wrote last night.
There are just certain... ways our characters in the threads seem to get stuck in. Like how when a child expresses interest in something one time and all of their relatives for the rest of their childhood always send them stuff related to what was little more than a passing fancy.
We are the relatives, the characters are the children.
It doesn't help that characters can remain stagnate for years and the thread exaggerations eclipse how they were planned or intended to be written.

Hopefully I can finish up the script for In the Lair of the Blue Moon tonight or tomorrow and everyone can see where I'm going with Jack.

Ninjoe is set in a crazy world of galactic empires led by god-emperors and litch kings that cut out cat souls to fuel their eternal existence.
The anon behind it is trying to make a primer to give a better summary than all the lore he's dropped.

Main character is Ninjoe, a ninja who works for the Go-Go City-state as a mook or hired help from one of the ninja clans/unions. He has to put up with and put down a lot of crazy bullshit.

Yeah, I ended up looking at pictures of
Michael Corleone in his chair when writing the description.

The Script for In the Lair of the Blue Moon is finished. There's some stuff I might want to change about it later. I feel like it's missing something, but I can't tell what. I'll post it in the thread so we have something to talk about and maybe someone can tell me what's missing.

JackHammer #5: In the Lair of the Blue Moon

Part 1

Page 1
Panel 1
Aoko is in her room sitting on her bed, she's looking down at her hands are in her lap with a piece of paper in them. It's a king sized bed and it makes her look tiny.

Panel 2
The panel has a cloudy outline to show it is something Aoko is remembering. Jack is resting one elbow on the back of a bench, pointing at a couple pieces of paper he's holding in his other hand, they're tickets. There's a hint of nervousness to his usual innocent confidence.
"You've really been helping me out with my studies, so I wanted to find a way to pay you back for that. If you'd like to."

Panel 3
Similar to panel 1, but zoomed in on Aoko's upper torso. She is furiously blushing while holding the ticket up with both hands at chest level now. Her mouth is a scribbly line and there are thought bubbles surrounding her head like steam rising.
Bubble 1: "This is a date, right? He's asking me out."
Bubble 2: "I've never actually been on a date before."
Bubble 3: "I'm in college, how have I never been on a date before?!"
Bubble 4: "Because you're a mafia princess."
Bubble 5: "What should I wear?"

Panel 4
Aoko is standing in her walk-in closet, complete with tall mirror in the back, holding up dresses trying to decide what to wear. One is a sundress complete with wide brim hat, the other is a cashmere coat with little tassels going down the center between where the buttons are.
"I like the sundress, but it's still too cold for that. The coat is cute, but should I show more skin? No, it's a first date. What would Jack think?"

Panel 5
A thought bubble panel with Jack looking far more handsome than he actually is. He's running one hand through his hair.
Imaginary Jack: "I think you'd look super cute in anything."

Panel 6
Aoko is holding the clothes up to her chest, clutching them in an X pattern. She's embarrassed by her own thoughts.
Aoko: "Ahhg! What was that?! He doesn't look like that!"

Panel 7
Outside Aoko's room, her yakuza looking bodyguard is standing with his back to the wall next to her door with his arms crossed. His expression is stern and unreadable. He's wearing sunglasses inside.
Aoko, loud enough to be heard from inside her room: "I'll go with the coat because it's still cold!"

Page 2
Panel 1
Narration box: That evening...
Aoko is walking down the street in her fancy coat. She's put on makeup and done up her nails. The nails are prominently shown as she's pulling on the scarf wrapped around her neck, puffs of visible breath coming from her mouth to show that it really is cold out.

Panel 2
Jack is waving to Aoko not too far away, he's wearing a long sleeved shirt with a sweater-vest over it topped with his big smile. Same long jeans as usual though. There are hearts above him which Aoko is having a hard time telling if they're real or her imagination.
Aoko, thinking: "There he is... wait, what are those?"

Panel 3
Small panel focusing on the heart garlands decorating the street.

Panel 4
Small panel, close up of a street game where you throw a heart shaped sack to knock down stacked cans.

Panel 5
Small panel showing people stepping up to get on a ferris wheel.

Panel 6
Aoko is laughing nervously as Jack is gesturing down the street where couples are walking around with their arms locked and the ferries wheel is poking out over the buildings in the background.
Aoko, thinking: "Decorations. Right. Not my imagination."
Jack: "I'm glad you came! You look good!"
Aoko, thinking: "Did I overdress for this? Wait, this is the first time I've seen Jack not wearing his team jersey so even he dressed up. OK, this is fine."
Aoko: Yeah! Looks like fun!"

Panel 1
Jack destroys the stacked milk bottle toss game. There's a line showing where the ball started and where it's impacting the pins knocking them all down. Aoko is standing to the side watching.
Aoko: "These games are usually rigged, I'm surprised you knocked them all down."
Jack: "I'm not on the football team for nothing!"
Jack, thinking: "And a little extra weight added to the ball didn't hurt either. It's not cheating if they cheated first."

Panel 2
Aoko is working a crane game with Jack peering down into the case.
Aoko: "It's more about picking out what isn't being held down by everything else."

Panel 3
Jack is wearing pink heart shades and a flamingo pink feather cape (very much so a Donquixote Doflamingo look). He's posing dramatically with his arms raised up with elbows and wrists bent inwards towards himself to get a laugh out of Aoko. In the background there's a photo booth that another couple is exiting where the guys has lipstick kiss marks on his face. Aoko is smiling at what a huge nerd he is.
Jack: "Check out our winnings!"
Aoko: "Very fresh. We should take some photos to commemorate these victories."

Panels 4 - 6 should be vertical and all part of a line of photo reel print outs.

Panel 4
Photo one: Jack is posing dramatically with the shades and cape on while Aoko gives him the silly side eye.

Panel 5
Photo two: Aoko is now wearing the shades with her lower lip raised up doing her best 'dat ass' impression. Jack finds this hysterical.

Panel 6
Photo three: Jack has his right arm out and coming back down in and Aoko has her left arm out coming back in. Both are making upside-down peace signs because you're supposed to make dumb gangsta poses in a photo booth. Everyone knows this.

Panel 7
Jack and Aoko are huddled together to look at the reel of photos. Aoko is tipping her shades to get a better look. Way in the background Aoko's bodyguard is seen holding a big wad of cotton candy on a stick.

Aoko: "I mean, that's how it's done, right?"
Jack: "Totally."

Page 4
Panel 1
Big panel of the ferris wheel, there's a projector somewhere flashing heart patterns onto the side of it.

Panel 2
Nested at the bottom left corner of panel 1
Jack is pointing at the ferris wheel urging Aoko to come along.
Jack: "Wanna ride it with me?"
Aoko: "Sure!"

Panel 3
Jack is extending a hand that Aoko is taking as she steps up into the carriage. He's even doing a slight bow for extra impact.
Aoko: "Wow, such a gentleman."

Panel 4
Perspective is from inside of the carriage looking out the window. We see the backs of Jack and Aoko's heads, but also their reflections in the glass window. Their expressions are those of child-like wonder. Beyond the glass is a view of the street below stretching out into the town. It is one of many illuminated lines, but the only one glowing pink.

Page 5
Panel 1
Perspective is from next to and a little behind Aoko so Jack is in the forefront. Jack is still looking out the window, he doesn't have his usual smile but a more serious or introspective look.
Jack: "I have a confession to make."
Aoko's brain goes into overdrive thinking: "Is he going to ask me to be his girlfriend? Was this all a set up? Can I even have a boyfriend? He is nice. But I'm supposed to be the Blue Moon, I can't have a nice guy around."
Jack: "Kurt told me how to do all this, I don't really know if I've been doing this right at all. Sorry if it's been weird."

Panels 2 - 4 are smaller panels that make up the horizontal length of the page.

Panel 2
Close up of Aoko. Her eyes are a little wide as she's processing this with a "..." above her head.

Panel 3
Similar to panel 2, but she's less stunned and more thoughtful looking with her eyes looking up and to the left.

Panel 4
Aoko has a hand up to her mouth and she's laughing.

Panel 5
Flip the perspective so Aoko is in the forefront and Jack is suddenly looking over at her, a little surprised by the laughing.
Aoko, thinking: "OK, it's not a date-date, I can do this. This is for the best."
Aoko: "I don't know what I'm doing either, but I am having fun so far."

Panel 6
Aoko's bodyguard is looking through one of those coin operated mounted binoculars with a finger to one ear for an earbud to listen in on what's happening in the ferris wheel carriage.
Jack, off panel, the speech balloon is connected to the bodyguard's ear: "That's a relief!"

Panel 1
Later that evening...
Jack is waving goodbye to Aoko. She's smiling.
Aoko: "This was nice. If I can... I'd like to do this again sometime."
Jack: "Yeah? I'll try to come up with something before then."

Panel 2
Jack is walking down the sidewalk at night. He has his phone up to his ear.
Jack: "I think it went well. She said she'd want to go out again sometime."
Kurt, over the phone: "See? What'd I tell you?"
Jack: "Yeah, yeah. I'm heading back now. Later."

Panel 3
Jack is looking up at the night sky, pondering to himself as his breath catches the wind.
Jack: "Huh. I'd like that too."

Panel 4
Small panel. Close up of a gas canister with speed lines all around it.

Panel 5
Small panel. Close up of Jack's eyes, suddenly focused and aware with speed lines around them.

Page 7
Panel 1
Jack is taking a defensive stance as the gas canister at his feet has already engulfed him in a cloud. Jack's face is strained.
Jack: *cough cough* "What...?"

Panel 2
Jack's body has gone limp and he's collapsing to the ground.

Panel 3
Jack is down on his hands and knees, one hand trying to cover his mouth, but it's too late.

Panel 4
Jack is laying unconscious on the ground. The gas has dissipated. A shadow is being cast over Jack coming from a large figure in front of a crescent moon as the light source.

Page 8
Panel 1
Close up of Jack's head and upper torso, he's laying face down on the ground. It's dark. His eyes are scrunched up, he's regaining consciousness.

Panel 2
Jack is sitting up right, one hand holding his head.
Brad, off panel: "Hey, Jack! So you're finally awake. Didn't expect to see you here."
Jack: "What? Brad? Is that you?"

Panel 3
Jack is standing upright, he's still woozy and his balance isn't helped by Brad slapping him on the back. There's a little title card next to Brad who is taller and bulkier than Jack. He has a bit of an angular face with a short billy-goat beard. The title card reads "Brad, on the same team as Jack."
Jack: "Last thing I remember is someone chucking a can of knockout gas at me after my date."
Brad: "Whaaat? You had a date? Good on you, Jackie boy!"

Panel 4
Zoomed out panel showing Jack and Brad are standing at the bottom of a dark cave with a light source coming from above at the top of a sheer vertical incline where two braziers are casting an eerie blue glow throughout the cavern. At the bottom of this cliff wall is a pool of water. There are other people around them. Some are waking up like Jack is, others are already up and look impatient, leaning against the walls of the cave.
Jack: "Just where are we?"

Panel 5
Between the burning braziers stands a tall man garbed in a ninja outfit with a crescent moon on his mask's forehead. For internal reference, this is Aoko's bodyguard.
Ninja: "You find yourselves In the Lair of the Blue Moon." (the title of the comic is printed in much bigger, stylized letters)
Ninja: "Each of you have been selected as having the potential to join our ranks. But potential is not enough. Ascend, prove yourself worth of joining the cause and be rewarded, or brave the darkness of these caverns. The choice is yours."

Panel 1
Close up of the sheer cliff as it begins to shift with holes appearing in it to give footholds to climb.

Panel 2
Brad is marching over to the cliff, fist in palm leaving Jack behind.
Brad: "Come on, Jack! Let's go be ninjas!"

Panel 3
Perspective is from the top of the cliff looking down. Brad and some of the other people in the pit have begun climbing the wall. Brad is ascending with gusto.

Panel 4
Suddenly a pillar extends out of one of the holes catching Brad in the gut and pushing him off the wall with impact lines all around him.

Panel 5
SPLASH Brad lands in the water below, there are other splashes surrounding him of others who have been knocked off.

Page 10
Panel 1
Worm's eye perspective from behind Jack who is looking up at the wall. We only see the back of Jack, but he has one hand up to his chin in a thinking pose. There are people half-way up the wall, but no one has made it to the top yet.
Jack, thinking: "If no one makes it up then no one will get help, or they'll be forced into ninja training and still not get help."

Panel 2
Jack is down on all fours, back arched, knees bents, arms straight. He's preparing to take off.

Panel 3
Jack is in a full sprint towards the wall.

Panel 4
Jack has leapt up into the air and found a hand and foothold in the wall.

Panel 5
Another side angle shot of the wall with Brad looking up at it. There's a motion line that shows where Jack first grabbed the wall, then jumped up to an extended pillar, jumped from there on top of another extended pillar higher up, then made it to the top with an elbow over the ledge pulling himself up.
Brad: "Not bad, Jack. I bet I can beat your time though."

Panel 1
Jack is pulling himself up the ledge. One elbow on the ledge and one palm down pushing himself up and over.
Jack, thinking: "I hope that wasn't too flashy, I don't want ninjas knowing about my powers."

Panel 2
Bigger panel. Jack surveys the platform, there's a bigger open space beyond the braziers with lines drawn on the ground in patterns with rocks sitting on top of them, he doesn't understand what that means. The big ninja with the crescent moon on his forehead is standing in front of a passageway further in. His arms are crossed.
Ninja: "Well done, you are the first to ascend. But the true test has yet to begin."

Panel 3
Jack is putting his fists up, his eyes have gotten steely as he's sizing up the ninja.
Jack, thinking: "I keep getting caught without my suit on."
Jack: "Before all that, you're a ninja, right? Prove it."

Panel 4
The big ninja has assumed a fighting stance as well.
Ninja: "I like your spirit. Very well, entertain me."

Page 12
Panel 1
Jack has cleared the distance between them in a flash. There's a dust trail behind him. Jack has thrown a solid right punch like an arrow. The perspective should be from the right so we see Jack's extended arm. The ninja is using both hands to block catching the fist in one palm with his other palm giving the catching hand more support, his knees are bent, but he hasn't been pushed back by it. There are impact lines around where Jack's fist has met the ninja's palm.
Jack, thinking: "I can't give away who I am, I'll have to hold back. Give it just enough to still look like a normal football player."
Ninja: "A solid strike."
Jack, thinking: "I didn't add enough extra weight."

Panel 2
The ninja has deflected Jack's arm downwards with one hand and is thrusting his other hand in a counterattack at Jack who has managed to move his head out of the way.
Ninja: "Light on your feet."

Panel 3
The ninja is slashing the air at Jack with a kunai, there's a crescent shape in the air from where the blade was swung. Jack is leaping backwards, arms spread, eyes wide, but focused.

Panel 4
The ninja is coming down on Jack who is squatted back on his legs. His blade is being deflected to the side by a flat rock Jack picked up from the patterns on the ground and swung at the knife.
Ninja: "Ingenuity."

Panel 5
The ninja has jumped back and is showing a hand full of throwing stars now.
Ninja: "But is that really all there is to you? Do you think what you possess now is enough to protect the one you hold dear?"

Panel 6
Jack is frantically running to one side as the throwing stars miss him.
Ninja: "Surviving in this world you have stepped into will demand so much more!"
Jack, thinking: "What is he talking about? There's no way he knows about me."

Page 13
Panel 1
Jack and the ninja are still facing off. There's a distance between them with a shadow being cast on the ground coming from the doorway the ninja was guarding.
Off panel: "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!"

Panel 2
The ninja has knelt down, one knee on the ground, fists on the ground, face looking at the ground. Total subservience.
Ninja: "Master. This candidate shows great promise."

Panel 3
The Blue Moon is standing in the passageway now in full samurai regalia (despite being a ninja) with an ornate robe on top. The illusion Aoko is projecting is meant to look bigger than her number 2. Aoko's face is part of the speech bubble.
Aoko, thinking: "Jack?! Why is Jack here? I don't want... I can't have... no. No!"
Blue Moon: "I can see this. But why are prospects being screened within our sanctum?"

Panel 4
The ninja is still knelt down. Jack still facing him, but glancing over to Blue Moon. In the background Brad is climbing over the ledge while trying to pretend he doesn't look winded with one arm raised in triumph.
Ninja: "Master, I assure you I took all precautions when collecting them."

Brad is calling from the background: "See! No sweat!"
Jack, thinking: "Their armor looks different from last time. Is he bigger than before?"

Panel 5
Blue Moon is placing a hand to their chest plate, like they are preparing an attack.
Blue Moon: "We shall discuss this later, for now..."

Page 14
Panel 1
Waves emanate from Blue Moon distorting the air around them. The waves aren't smooth like ripples, more like how sound waves on a chart look. It's like a mirage (because it is, sort of). Any object overlapping with the wave won't line up with where is is on the other side of the wave.

Panel 2
The waves hit Jack and his body becomes all ripply as well. He looks like he's staggering, but with how his body is distorted it is impossible to tell what his posture is.

Panel 3
Jack is running in the direction of where Blue Moon was, but they've been replaced with a shining moon with a night sky warping around it reminiscent of the patters that were on Blue Moon's robes.

Panel 4
As Jack is running he looks around and sees other figures running alongside him. They're all blacked out aside from their large shining moon-like eyes. One of the figures is much larger and has horns.

Panel 5
Jack reaches the moon in the distance which has become a tunnel of light.

Panel 6
Jack finds himself standing on the sidewalk back in town. It's not the one he was abducted from, but similar enough. He's blinking rapidly trying to process what just happened.
Jack: "Huh."

Page 15
Panel 1
Aoko has dropped her illusion disguise as Blue Moon and is holding her head while talking to her bodyguard who is still wearing his ninja garb. In her other hand she's clutching the magic amulet that gives her illusion powers.
Aoko: "OK, what was this stunt about, really?"
Bodyguard: "That young man, Jack, I wanted to get a measure of him. He has impressed me."

Panel 2
Aoko is looking more cross now. Her bodyguard remains stoic.
Aoko: "And the best way to do that was to kidnap him?"
Bodyguard: "We cannot continue to rely solely upon illusions and strong-armed street thugs if we are to rebuild your family's organization. We need trained men if we are to negotiate from a position of strength."

Panel 3
Aoko has her arms crossed and an eyebrow raised.
Aoko: "Negotiate with whom?"

Panel 4
The bodyguard is in the forefront of the panel, behind him are shadowy figures. The most prominent is in the center, sitting in a chair with a low back with the outline of a Homburg hat on top of his head. Think Michael Corleone. Standing behind the chair is an outline of a very wide short man wearing a similar hat. On the other side is a wavy figure with curves like a strip of paper with a much wider brimmed hat on top of her head.
Bodyguard: "There are other old families in this city, ones we cannot ignore, ones we have worked with in the past."

Panel 5
Aoko is walking away from her bodyguard who is giving a short bow. Aoko's eyes are darkened.
Aoko: *Sigh* "Make the arrangements for these meetings. It's better I know sooner than later what else lurking out there."
Bodyguard: "As you wish, Master Blue Moon."

Maybe it's missing a beat after page 14. Or maybe it doesn't have enough room to breathe. I'm used to compacting a story as much as possible and that might be working against me now.
I'll think of it more as a working draft.

The next plot on the agenda is the long awaited and much discussed crossover with Crackdown.

I would overall recommend the original run, Skottie Young's art carries it hard, if you like it and want more IHF, go for Untold Tales of I Hate Fairyland (keep in mind that "Fluff the World" is not on the TPB, so you will have to go to Skottie's substack) and the first volume of the second run (Volume 5). After that, the writing quality takes a nosedive, the biggest problem is that by that point, the second run abandons its original premise of being a sequel to the first run and doubles down on being a mediocre rethread instead. I do like Laufman's artwork for the just started third run from what I have seen from previews and covers, he did the art for one story in Untold Tales.

It's more like a compulsion. Like you get an idea in your head and it just stays there, forever. You don't forge it, it's always there taking up space until you write it down. And then once it's written down it never looks the way you envisioned it, but at least it's no longer in your head.

Hmm.

So when a living thing other than Crackdown is pulled into one of his cracks, it feels like it's gone to super sleep.
Is it possible for anyone other than Crackdown to remove something partially stuck in one of his cracks?

I'm thinking what if he tried to incapacitated Jack by trapping one of his legs in a crack, but Jack made the edges of the crack so less dense and fragile that he was able to free himself by forcing the crack into a gap.
The way powers interact is always going to be strange, but it would be nice to figure out a consistent way for these powers to interact.

Usually not, however if the surface on which the crack is located is destroyed the object will be released. A good few thwacks with something heavy should do the trick, if you know what I'm saying

>>149040328
>How wide spread is Dan's organization in the city? Would he hire temps/two night extra muscles?
Dan's men have established a steady presence in Quemar, however the scale of it is not readily apparent to an outside observer. In one of the stories on my "to do" list some of them pose as aquarium workers. As for the other question: most of his goons are under permanent employment since his rates are cut above of what crimelords of his scope offer. But I suppose it wouldn't be inconceivable for him to hire a couple of boneheads for a quick gig, should the need arise.

Alright, my thoughts.
I like that Jack is willing to cheat at carnie games.
The Blue Moons are becoming the /coc/ Lin Kuei, that's fun.
"Jack, thinking: "If no one makes it up then no one will get help, or they'll be forced into ninja training and still not get help."" Is awkwardly phrased and should probably be rewritten.
If Jack is trying to conceal his identity, he shouldn't be the one to pick a fight with the ninja. The more he has to exert himself, the more obvious his powers will be, and he's clearly aware of that considering he remarks on it the literal panel before, so provoking the ninja makes no sense.

I've read your script on Sunday. Believe it or not, I didn't have time to organize my thoughts and give you some feedback.
Long story short, I liked it, the pacing is good, I just got the feeling that the stakes are a bit low.
I really want to join the fun, but it's just work these days.

That method of crack extraction works for my purposes.

How would Crackdown initially respond to a new super suddenly in town acting as muscle? Do they become a target to remove ASAP, or does he stalk them for a while?

"Someone has to make it up, then out to get help."

I see your point about provoking the ninja and keeping a low profile.
"Ninja or not, I'm getting past you."

But I did like Jack saying "Prove it" to a ninja. Maybe I'll save that for another time if it doesn't work here.

>>149043680
Man, I feel that. Work sucks lately. A lot of extra BS with no extra pay. It really is like Office Space now, only without the office.

It's actually a bit of a point to keep the stakes somewhat low right now. Jack can't be doing city saving heroics until the big moment where he gets pushed into the national spotlight. Right now he's bush league and barely anyone knows he exists outside of interested parties and those who keep an eye out for up-and-coming supers. Not even the media have a good picture of him yet.

I had to move Blue Moon's meeting with Don Darkness out of this script since it didn't work at the end, but the big conflict is going to be between at least three villains with Jack caught in the middle. Or at least that's the idea currently.

It can go either way depending on the circumstances. If he feels like there's info he can gather by acting discrete, he'll opt for that.

Is it better for Bull-E to try to force his way into the ranks of the local crime gang for what he thinks of as a one-night score only to be used as bait by them?
Maybe the thugs try to humor him by putting him on lookout for a fake job meant to distract Crackdown only for Brad to bull out and surprise everyone before getting stalked.

Just trying to figure out an order of events that works.

I'm glad someone is enjoying them.
The next one is going to take a lot longer though since the outline doesn't exist, or at least not in a way that makes it easy to work with yet. Discussion will speed that along if I can get any going.
The last three I had mostly to very solid outlines saved in my notes to work off of that have been sitting cold for like two years. It's good to finally get those out there.

Deciding that the next one is the long-on-the-books Crackdown crossover had me think to add Brad to this past one to get him introduced sooner than later. I want to make it so he's always trying to become a henchman or hired goon for someone and it never works out for him.

Oh, I guess this is the latest tumblr sexyman now that the spam email puppet is old hat.

I don't know, if you want to avoid that energy I'd just say keep Killfeed's dialogue menacing and to the point. No game show yapping, just an explanation of the "challenge" and the threat of what happens if the subject fails. But I guess that's not very streamer-esque, steamers need to constantly yap and engage their audience... I guess having him react to donations from fans, chat messages, etc is something that a streamer would do but a TV host wouldn't.

I don't actually view it as a bad thing. It's the energy of the character that resonates with me not the fandom surrounding it. The energy of the character is a useful reference for the type of character I know I'll be writing for at some point, it's KNOWING, consciously knowing that there will be elements I'm bringing in that I wouldn't have otherwise that slightly throws me off because I'll need to keep things in check more thoroughly then subconscious moods.

Having KillFeed do streamer things is fine. Like if he gets a big donation then he has to do a shout out, or do a certain attack, or ask a specific question (I'll need to note those down for #7 when he makes his return, might also be a good opportunity to introduce other characters from the JH note pack as either elements from the challenges or viewers). Now I'm getting ahead of myself prepping for his come back.
I see streamers as more of an evolution of TV host personas, or at least an evolution of the entertainer zeitgeist. Elements from the previous iteration will always carry over to the next.

One thought is that he can do the menacing Jigsaw impression for introducing the challenge, but where the hero can't see he reverts to a typical streamer persona reacting to the hero's progress, reading donos, etc., so he essentially has one face for his victim and one face for his audience. Maybe Jack (or more likely his roommate) could stumble onto a stream vod and discover the dorky Asmongold personality Killfeed displays for his "feeders."

This is why I'm seeking more of a collaborative effort since the story is mostly happening on your turf.

Jack's team arrives in the city as the visiting football team. They're there for a few days because it was a long ass trip to get there. Brad hears the city is a crime hub and thinks it's a good opportunity for some side-hustles, a quick score and he's gone. How does he find the organization?
He does have a supervillain background (kind of) with the Mean Teens, but I assume nothing ever got pinned on him if he was able to go to college and still join the football team, so he's an unknown and no one knows he can a minotaur. That's a good cause for them to be dismissive of him.
So it's like a "I'm gonna pay you $100 to fuck off" kind of thing?

>>149052148
>feeders
I instinctively don't like that, which is why it is the perfect term to use and I will find a way to incorporate it.

Rechecking the notes, looks like KillFeed posts his stream links to /su/. Also, that is what happened in The Corn Maze Monster, kind of. Kurt did find the stream.
I don't know where KF would upload his archives to though.

OK, goodnight.

Hill Billie Art
Hill Billie Art
md5: dbba12c684d004e0e98cc010b4db67c5๐Ÿ”
ok here we go
Anons of /coc/ i present the pitch for Hill-Billie's story that will be a Gravity Falls-like story about the supernatural and cryptid creatures.
>THE PITCH
Welcome to Cowpie County, where every Tuesday brings a new cryptid sighting and every Friday brings another unexplained disappearance. Billie, our unassuming mud-controlling heroine, thought her biggest problem was keeping her pet possum, Dixi, out of Dixie. But things get a whole lot muddier when Grace, a perpetually bewildered city girl, is unceremoniously dumped at their eccentric aunt's dilapidated cabin, just a stone's throw from Billie's family home.

Grace Danson, whose closest encounter with nature has been a rogue pigeon, finds the holler's charming peculiarities quickly escalating into full-blown supernatural chaos. From sentient scarecrows demanding pie to a Bigfoot that only communicates through interpretive dance, strange events start terrorizing the small town. Billie realizes her unusual "muck-bending" powers might be the only thing standing between her community and total absurdity, and to her surprise, the cynical city Girl's unexpected observations sometimes offer a bizarre kind of clarity.

With the help of Billie's skeptical but ultimately supportive New friend, Grace's attempts to Wi-Fi connect with the local flora, and a local radio show host obsessed with alien abductions, the unlikely duo navigates a world filled with genuine supernatural threats and laugh-out-loud absurdities. They'll try to uncover who (or what) is behind Cowpie County's never-ending parade of peculiar problems, all while trying to keep Billie's mud-bending a secret and maybe, just maybe, showing the city kid that there's more to life than high-speed internet.

One of the things that should be kept in mind with this crossover biz is that Arthur doesn't actually care for cape stuff unless it's someone he knows personally or if they're famous enough to be plastered onto billboards and lunchboxes (which is the level of fame JC's founding members are at, I would assume).

I want to get some feedback on the notes I've compiled about JackHammer VS CrackDown so far, but something keeps setting off pastebin's retarded "SMART filter" reminding me once again why I don't like using that site anymore. No idea what since I tested it and it's not fuck or shit. Work around:

https://files.catbox.moe/si6kzf.txt

Anyway, these are the notes I've scoured from the archives and organized into something resembling an order of events. The idea for the fight itself is taking shape in my mind, but getting to the fight is another story.

Also, I think it'd be funny if at some point someone opens a book and CrackDown comes out of it. He could do that if my understanding of his powers are correct. He could do some real Loony Tunes shit if he wanted to.

Noted.

I think the Crack vs Jack battle coming down to a sweaty manly punch out is very anime, similar to the climax of Metal Gear Solid 4, which suits these characters.

In general, I don't see Crackdown as someone whose dialogue has a lot of exclamation points unless he's well and truly boiled over. I think a sullen growl is his usual cadence, which should contrast nicely with Jack, who is all exclamation points all the time!!!!

I remember Crackdown anon mentioning he's very careful not to bring anyone else all the way into the cracks because it tends to drive living things insane. I'm actually not sure why he has an ironclad no-kill rule but that seems to be consistent.

A strong visual would be Crackdown disintegrating Jack's sledgehammer.

I read the Crackdown #0 script and he can bring parts of living things into his cracks. It makes the part feel like it's gone to sleep (pins and needles).
His no-kill rule might be because of trauma (because of what happened to the dog), but it does work to his benefit since it keeps him within the "rules" of capes and crooks. Once you deviate from the rules the narrative leaves you to fend for yourself and you may end up with a less forgiving new narrative. But that's meta stuff.

The greentext dialogue in the notes was written by CD anon I think, but it was before CD was as developed as a character as he is now. It's subject to big revisions, but the overall flow will likely be preserved.
We're looking at year 0 CD, just like how JH is year 0. Or they're both year one super rookies.

Maybe CD bails on the fight after taking the sternum smasher? Or maybe that's when the cop sirens can be heard approaching.
The hammer is necessary for the end of the fight. Not sure how Jack brought the hammer with him on this trip though, that's not as easy to smuggle as a costume.

OK, goodnight.

Nice! i like this

Anyways, I made this little prologue about Billie and Grace meeting for the first time

>The ancient, clunky car coughed its last wheeze outside what her aunt optimistically called a "cabin." Grace Danson stared out the window, past the dust-caked glass, at the veritable wall of trees.
>Not the manicured, friendly trees of Central Park, but gnarled, shadowy things that whispered of forgotten things. Cowpie County. The name itself was an insult.
>Her phone, a lifeline barely clutching onto a single bar, felt like a dead weight.
>No Wi-Fi, no cafes, just... dirt. And trees. And the smell of something faintly resembling damp dog and wild mint.
>This was going to be the longest summer of her life.
>Unpacking was a blur of grumbling and tossing designer luggage onto creaking floorboards.
>The cabin was exactly as advertised: rustic. Which, in Grace's dictionary, meant "actively trying to repel human comfort." By noon, the sheer, crushing boredom had set in.
>She'd scrolled through her phone until her thumbs ached, tried to read a book, and even considered doing jumping jacks. Anything.
>"Fine," she muttered, kicking open the protesting screen door. "I'll explore your stupid forest, Cowpie County. See what thrilling adventures a girl can have in the sticks."
>She followed a barely-there path, the air growing thick and humid.
>The silence was unnerving, broken only by chirping insects she couldn't identify. Then, from somewhere just beyond a particularly dense cluster of thorny bushes, she heard it.
>A rapid, rhythmic thwack-thwack-thwack, followed by a series of high-pitched, almost squealing giggles. It soundedโ€ฆ feral. And close.
>Hesitantly, Grace pushed aside a low-hanging branch. Her eyes, accustomed to the artificial glow of screens, struggled to adjust to the dappled light. And then she saw it.

>A small, wiry figure, no taller than a ten-year-old, darting between trees.
>It had wild, brown hair and was moving with an unnatural speed, kicking at something unseen on the ground.
>A flash of muddy overalls.
>A gremlin. Her mind screamed the word.
>It looked like a child, but it moved like something out of a horror movie. Grace blinked, rubbed her eyes.
>"Must be the heat," she whispered, shaking her head. But the thwack-thwack-thwack continued, moving away from her, deeper into the woods.
>Curiosity, a dangerous thing in the wilderness, tugged at her.
>She followed, carefully, trying not to snap twigs. The sounds led her to an opening in the trees, revealing a sight that made her stomach churn.
>A farm. Or what passed for one.
>And it was a sea of glistening, sucking, brown mud. Everywhere. Her pristine white sneakers, a beacon of urban defiance, seemed to mock her.
>She hesitated, her nose wrinkling in disgust. Mud.
>Oh, she hated mud. But the sounds had stopped at the edge of this mucky expanse, and she swore she'd seen that "gremlin" disappear into it.
>Taking a deep, fortifying breath that smelled vaguely of manure, Grace gingerly stepped into the mire. Her foot sank. "Ugh!" she groaned, trying to pull it out. It came with a sickening squelch.
>"This is disgusting. This is justโ€ฆ so utterly disgusting. I hate mud. I hate dirt. I hate everything about this place," she muttered, each squelch of her shoes into the viscous earth punctuating her misery.

>Grace froze. The voice was unmistakably female, young, but with a twang so thick it could spread butter. She slowly turned, mud clinging to her shoes, and her eyes widened.
>Standing just a few feet away, caked in mud from her bare feet to her elbows, was a girl who looked like sheโ€™d just wrestled a pig in a swamp.
>She had a wide, disarming smile, a missing upper front tooth that made her grin look almost predatory, and in her arms, a very real, very unimpressed possum.
>Billie. Her eyes, startlingly bright, held an unnerving mix of innocence and something far older, something that saw right through Grace's city-girl facade.
>Grace stood there, rooted to the spot, a bizarre blend of confusion and genuine fear gripping her.

While there is some slight trauma over the puppy accident, the reason why Arthur doesn't kill is actually pretty obvious โ€” he doesn't do it because he doesn't view it as a right thing to do in most cases. He's actually concerned over moral ramifications of taking a life and doesn't think much of those who take it lightly, be it sociopathic villains or /co/verse civvies yammering on about what vigilantes like him should or shouldn't do since they aren't the ones getting their hands dirty. That being said, his natural aversion to killing is actually surprisingly low. It's not inconceivable for him to take a life under some very specific circumstances and for it to not weigh on his conscience that hard. In fact, he almost killed Wurmeck during their fight.

You don't know what a snallygaster is, do you? Let's just say they steal cows.
What about moon-eyed people? Weird little fellas with huge moon colored eyes who can only see at night. Make them like secret informants maybe.

Interesting opening for the story. I feel you should've introduced Grace's caretaker for the summer though.

Yeah, we do enjoy what little anonymity we can get here.
I feel like if it was a real place for artists there'd be tons of really terrible art being posted all the time. No artist comes out the gate drawing smooth lines and prefect shapes.

OK, so we'll need to nix the flow of garbage come out of a crack. He can't store things in there since if he leaves stuff in there without him being there I assume it gets lost or ejected out somewhere?

Any thoughts on the set up of how Brad would encounter the local criminals? I think he'd say he's going out for a jog to his team, but then how he finds them is undetermined right now, as is how they react to him.

My ambition is to write this as a true crossover, something that could be read in the JH series as an issue and also something that could be read in the CD series as an issue. Theoretical readers of only one or the other wouldn't need to know who the other guys are, only that they are now in conflict with the guy they're following.

Sure,
I mean like in the webcomic she's got a more outward like hairstyle, not like yours with it being more inward and simple, you know?
Messier is the right way to say it, which is what the webcomic hairstyle is like

Well, if you're open to suggestions, you might consider getting Frank involved. His nonchalant attitude towards crime and violence might be just a thing you need to get things going. Hell, he might arrange the fight betweem BULL-E and Crackdown as an "audition" of sorts, like "You want to roll with the big boys? Go fuck that guy up and I'll put a word in for ya with the Big Man."
But personally, the scene I want to see from this is them having a brief contest of strength of some kind. Frank is obviously not as strong as a magical bull man, but maybe Brad can internally comment that his physical might doesn't feel fully human either. Or maybe Frank uses his experience and actually wrestles him down like Heracles did with Cretan Bull, your call.

Mainly I'm curious how he developed that view, given that his parents are unlikely to have imparted it, the media he's shown to enjoy definitely doesn't espouse it, and his grandpa seems to be the huntin' and fishin' type which tends to lend a pragmatic view. Of course, as we known from all the great philosophers of middle history, being depressed gives you a lot of time to develop an ethos.

Arthur is a very empathetic indvidual. People often assume that he has problems with that cause his behavior is pretty spectrum-like, but most of the time he's either just ill-equipped to deal with other people's issues or he has his own stuff going on. He has a great deal of sympathy towards those who are trying to work through shit like Tamara and, in turn, it also somewhat applies to people he beats up every night. He fully understands that many of them turned to crime due to unfortunate life circumstances, but what he vehemently disagrees with is them being equated to people they actively victimize or perpetuating this system on an individual level as if they don't have a choice.
Moreover. there is still such thing as an innate moral compass. Some people don't need impassioned speeches from Uncle Ben to know that extrajudicial murder of criminals isn't gucci. Most people, even.
โ€ฆI hope.

OK, so the boys want to pay him $100 to fuck off but Frank wants to give the kid a shot.
"Tell ya, what, you beat me at arm wrestling and I'll bring ya in on our next score."
Cue the set up, both looking smug as can be. Frank thinks he can put the kid down easy, Brad thinks Frank is an old horse with one leg in the glue factory already.
Both are beat red trying to force the other down. Brad transforms during the arm wrestling to get the edge. Is he really stronger? Maybe the shock of the kid truing into a bull man caused Frank to lose focus for just long enough to lose.
Well, deals a deal. Brad's in on the heist tonight.
Whispering "Are we really gonna let some punk freak join us just like that?" from the guy who doesn't like supers.
"Yeah, he'll make a perfect distraction." says Frank.

i mean, not really, she doesn't have to be too beefy, and i don't see a problem with your version of Billie,so don't worry about it

Hmm. Maybe the other guys don't know about him and Frank did that to convince them? I still like the mental image of Frank being surprised when the kid transforms mid-arm wrestle.
Is there like a... mooknet? A goons for hire website in /coc/?

The Mean Teens were slated for the Stretcherous story but the anon interested in Stretcherous never actually wrote the story (I wrote one of them when it tied into the ACoSF thing I was plotting at the time), so I don't know how well known the Mean Teens were by the end of that run. Only that they mostly broke up.
