Make dad proud and show us what you got, get to drawing!
>>149020209 (OP)I made a png of a weasel pointing and laughing
>>149020259Nicely done! Every art should get acknowledgement.
things have been grim lately
>>149020259Actually you're fairly well on your way. I'd take a quick look at the claws on his feet and see if there's a way to tweak them to fit more naturally (for anatomy's sake) but I think all in all you are doing a solid job. Don't be afraid of slightly thicker lines too if you want, so it can scale down nicely. I give it a very solid 7.5/10.
>>149020622>>149020640Thanks! I initially started drawing these as a test to develop better hand-anatomy. I had a lot of fun with the concept, so I expanded it into a few full-body drawings. And yea, scaling is definitely the next thing to work on. I'm used to drawing with a huge aspect ratio, but I realize that it's not great for converting to smaller image files.
Developing dragon and dinosaur expressions
>>149020810>>149020828>>149020259How do you get the lines so thin?? I fucking wish I could do this.
My ass always ends up with slovenly, sloppy slop as seen here

Villain henchman Dino design
I made this the other day. I might expand on it more.
>>149021443I use 2.76 px pencil in Krita since I find that's the smallest brush size that wont cause issues with color masking and line borders. I also work with a big ass canvas, so I'm guessing that makes lines appear much thinner than they actually are.
>>149021577I may go back to Krita, Iโve been using procreate since I got an iPad a few years back and I kinda miss how the brushes came out in the former.
>>149021563Real good stuff, love your art style.
I made this a while ago as a fursona but now I'm gonna use her for a comic.
>>149020209 (OP)Made another comic, been trying to get into that sort of weekly schedule of making these, haven't been the best but I'm working on it.
Hoping to move into digital soon so I can start posting it elsewhere
how the fuck do I draw muscle pecs without it looking like booba
>>149023488Your artsyle is so cool!!!
>>149020209 (OP)I've started on a pitch book for my Brightside series, to make the ideas more tangible.
Yes, the doll is included.
If you don't practice do you regress
This is my worst try

>>149020209 (OP)Sure bats, have a portrait doodle
>>149029781What a coincidence, because I certainly have a bone for her.
>>149029585>>149029781>>149030332Here's a new one. I haven't drawn this character for a year, now all of a sudden I'm getting a bunch of commissions of her for seemingly no reason. Can't complain, skeleton tits are fun to draw.
I've been so bad about working on my fundamentals, and especially varying my subject matter. I'm gonna try to take it upon myself to draw a lot more day to day stuff because I almost draw characters only, and usually on blank backgrounds. My plan is I'll find some references and draw those out as practice first, and then I'll draw characters on top after the fact like in this case here. Hopefully the variety and practice from here on out will get me out of my current skill plateau.
ive hit a bad mental rut where i cant pick up the drawing tablet cause it makes me feel like a tool. any tips on how to overcome this?
>>149031198You either make something, or you make nothing. You'll be giving something tangible to this world the moment you make even just a few brush strokes with the drawing tablet, friend. I suggest, though, it's a very good motivator to surround yourself with art/be in an environment with a lot of it around you if that makes any sense. I'm getting out of a huge rut myself right now just because I've had so much art and art subjects thrown into my view recently that it feels like a disservice NOT to create some of my own.
some punch out thing I'm doing with my OC.
Iโm trying to work on comedy and making my Dashr U girls more toxic
>>149031139I'm not a sonic autist, BUT I can definitely appreciate the detail that went into this. Solid work, a 10/10 in my eyes.
I'm having internal battles with myself over something I want to do, but there are 2 sides to my dilemma.
There's a show I am very passionate about. I'd love a revival but realistically speaking just some short little mini animations/GIFs/comics/stills, etc. made in the show's *original* style is fine. As in, it would be as if I was on their team and handled the labor of creating new content (even if not in the traditional 22-minute segment which let's be honest isn't happening from a 1 person operation, ever). There's fanart style, which is great but I literally want to "adopt" the rules of the show in terms of how it looks, feels, etc. I've seen people do this before with fanworks where the stuff they make LOOK official, as if they were coming from the creators / original studio artists themselves. It's quite inspiring and I would like to do that.
Now for the problem: I need to learn how the existing art works. I need to deconstruct it and learn the breakdown of the shapes, I need to study existing art frames, poses, expressions, etc. And... I think there will have to be a lot of initial tracing at first. It feels like I'm just a hack though, but bear with me. I need to learn how these characters are drawn on-model, rig them up, and then I can start slowly bending the "rules" of the rigs a bit and start making original posings, expressions, go off-model (tastefully and authentically). But I don't really know what I'm doing here. There is "cheap" tracing where someone is mindlessly going along the lines of art, but that's not what I am trying to go for here. I want to literally adopt the artstyle. Imagine I was hired by the studio, they would have guidelines and rules to follow for making the art of the characters. Well I don't have the rules and guidelines or any of that, I can only study and replicate what has been made public. With enough replication I can then start making original elements from the existing pieces.
I don't know how to approach this issue.
>>149033485Also if someone is all like "adopt the style? wtf does that even mean?"
This is not my work, but it's a great example of Official Looking Fanart.
"Unofficially Official" as i'd like to call it.
This wasn't made by Nintendo, this was made by someone literally adhering to Nintendo's art direction and rules. Kinda surprised he wasn't sued though lmao.

>>149033582And one more example, last post on the subject:

>>149020209 (OP)Friendly reminder to flip/mirror your canvas every once in awhile, so you can see where you fucked up and skewed it too much and then get better at fixing it
>>149020209 (OP)Learning to draw is pointless with AI around now. its like learning how to ride a horse to get around when theres planes and cars now. Any non artist can make way better looking pics way faster than any artist now.
>>149033485Sounds like you're preoccupied with it looking official than anything else. Adopt is just another word for copy so if you're just doing a few things for it then do that, you can worry about giving it that off model style when you draw more and more of it.

>>149033742Yum!! I fucking love bayte!
>>149033742I assume this is just bait, but this mindset is wrong because unlike cars/horses, the end result is vastly different. Unless you're an artist, you'll never be able to create exactly what you're picturing. AI just gives uncreative people a rough estimate of what they're picturing and then they tweak it until they're happy enough with the end result and shift their expectations. A true artist can picture something and then perfectly bring it into existence.
>>149020209 (OP)Working on some Rouge the Bat.
>>149033849>A true artist can picture something and then perfectly bring it into existence.and not heavily rely on 1:1 reference
>>149033742AIs cant make porn of obscure characters.
AI slob "artists" havent made porn of characters I want to see porn of.
Most AI shitheads are 10 year old middle easters idiots generating anime shit with the prompts "anime" and "missionary" and "huge tits".
>>149032027Fair, if I learned anything from doing these is that I need to both give my ideas time to grow, while also making sure when to throw one away.
I think I also learn that doing no text for an short comic strip is not the best idea..
>>149033485I think the best advice I can give is just try to experiment and study by connecting a lot of artwork through their similarities and general mannerisms, then by using what you learn and a lot of references of the official works, you sort of put everything together until it shapes into its own thing. Sort of like mashing clay together and forming a pot
As an example, I made this convergent evolution of the liteo line, and I did it by basically looking at a lot of references of similar seal mons/the litleo line itself, while also stealing their colors. I also tried to look at line weight and other things in the Pokรฉmon artstyle that keep reoccurring with every official art I looked at. Eventually coming up with this, not the best but I feel like it's the closest I've gotten to the style.
>>149028746I reached a point where I stopped attempting to get better and instead tried to make a level I can realistically reach look more appealing.
Then I gave up because I did it for noone.
>>149034137will you do it for me? :c
