I'm really shocked even King of the Hill was forced into using puppet rigs. I know the new Beavi sand Butthead made the switch, but that franchise being formatted as a series of one-off comedic skits made it easier to stomach. I was so sure KotH would be safe from that, especially when picrel and Hulurama premiered just two years earlier and were both way more demanding on a technical level than a relatively mundane sitcom set in the Texas suburbs.

Not /co/, but did you watch that Murphy Brown revival a few years ago? Rather than get former cute child star/current honey-glazed hamplanet Hailey Joel Osment to reprise his role and okay an adult Avery Brown, they got Jake McDorman to do it, likely because Hailey would have come with the witch that has been fattening him up to eat him (he shouldn't have had a nibble of her candy cottage). Why am I bringing this up? Because despite voice acting being potentially more forgiving than live action as someone could, conceivably do a good enough impression to keep things going, they still went with the OG cast when they could and I appreciate that.
But Murphy Brown made the right call replacing HJO. Having that lardgolem show up on set would have ended with half the cast eaten. Better safe than sorry.

I was already burned on that when it was obvious the revival is developing from its later seasons' flanderization instead of harkening back to the glory days. Which is really fucking annoying since Judge himself said he hated how for example Peggy became a bitch, but she's literally worse now in every way because "that's the natural progression for her later series self" when Judge easily could've had her mellow out in her older age and reflect back on how crazy she used to be and show some self-awareness it could get bad

Not to really defend the new series because I'm getting the vibe from the animation that it might not be great, but that episode was super early in the series and seems to be before they really decided on Peggy's personality. They play her as more of, like, a Texan Marge Simpson or generic housewife or something who's a lot more soft-spoken and prudish. By the next season or so, or even the end of the first, they decided to make her wackier and have an unjustified amount of self-confidence. She even said "penis" or swore with no hesitation multiple times in the old series past that extremely early episode.

Now someone who's super into the first season could argue character development I guess, but it becomes clear they just didn't have as strong an idea of what to do with Peggy compared to Hank early in the series, and only decided on her personality later. Same with how Bobby kind of goes from being more slow/weird to having more charisma and being somewhat effeminate; not every character's personality is 100% decided in the first handful of episodes of the series, especially a show that ran as long as King of the Hill.

tl;dr The new show might suck but I can definitely see Peggy saying fuck if completely uncensored

It really doesn't, this would look bad for any show trying to animate realistic looking people because it automatically looks uncanny and lifeless when it shouldn't. Beavis already did this but at least they tried to keep the squiggly lines which gave it a bit more "flavor", even if it was a sterile attempt at looking hand drawn.

The bathrooms are in a hallway with doors leading to single toilet rooms, no urinals, like a clinic's setup. Each toilet room is also ADA accessible. The hallway has a multitap sink. I think it was actually more like after Season 5 or so that Daniels/Judge weren't as involved but the internet kind of has a misconception that it was Season 8, I guess because of the change to digital animation. Like it was like 1 showrunner (a separate person from Judge/Daniels for the first 5 seasons), two people for S6 that let the show get really wacky and Judge hated it and possibly fired them (fans tend to think Season 6 is funny though), and the two who ran 7-13.

My impression is that they didn't personally dislike the later stuff; just that people move onto other projects and it's typical for a TV show to not have the same people in charge for its entire run unless the show's pretty short.
