I saw a very rough cut of the first 2 episodes of lanterns and here’s what I know:

It’s very dark and gritty, feels like True detective at home. They deal with domestic disputes, etc. tension is real.

John stewart’s origin isn’t shown in the 2 episodes, but he’s still a rookie.

Hal has been at it for a while, and gives off that grizzled vet energy. He’s also a fucking asshole.

Mystery is about who killed a local politician. Alot of evidence starts to point to synestro but they don’t wanna believe it. John stewart keeps digging into the conspiracy, but Hal doesn’t wanna believe it.

Kilowog is also there, but the cgi isn’t done so IDK if he’ll look good. He’s a genius level scientist.

There’s a sex scene, with full nudity.

Fron what I understand from interviews, the premise of the Lanterns show is that the Lantern Corps investigating a murder out in the boonies that's loosely connected to the organization, only to uncover a "terrifying mystery" that continually escalates until it culminates in Hal and Jon uncovering an "eldritch threat" that will affect the larger DCU and reveal the main villain of Phase 1.

So it's basically "True Detective but the Lovecraft stuff was actually real and not just Matthew McConaughey tripping balls". Interesting premise but very curious choice for a Green Lantern storyline, feels more like Constantine's thing.

that'd be a bit weird to do for the first phase. all the characters that'd get "brought back" are either characters that died off-screen before the events of the movie or characters from TSS/Peacemaker - neither of which really have a plethora of characters for audiences to care about. maybe for phase 3 or phase 4 with some more characters under their belt, but certainly not for the first phase where we're still building everything up.
on that note though, the idea of Blackest Night encompassing the whole phase (with TV shows and movies focusing on characters being brought back and not just having it focused to one event movie) would be pretty cool to see. like a JLI show that has Ted Kord coming back at the same time that a Suicide Squad movie has a bunch of their former members coming back
