Low ratings (released before the Cobra Kai/Stranger Things 80's revival) and insanely expensive voice actors.

Too expensive and not funny enough.

It wouldn't have lasted much longer, though. It came out at the tail end of the '80s nostalgia fad. 2-3 seasons max.

People said it was a ripoff of Archer.
Its humor was rather similar to Metalocalypse instead

It took too long to find its footing. It did eventually find a groove, but the series was already cancelled by the time it clicked into place.

Will Forte was easily the single worst part about this show. Iโ€™ll give partial blame to the writers too, but his sniveling overacted cartoonish shtick did the show no favors. Itโ€™s funnier when the the actors play the ridiculous scenarios straight and let the absurdity be the joke. Will Forte tried WAY too hard to sell it and it suffered as a result.

Because Comedy Central fucked the schedule, the producers wasted a ton of money on pointless cameos, and while funny it's not what anyone expected since everyone to this day still writes it off as Synthwave Archer despite not really being like that at all. These issues were insurmountable in acquiring an audience and second season.

>Didn't the 80's revival started with Hotline Miami?
haha....no. It was just a symptom of it.

There was definitely a claim towards '80s nostalgia during the 2000s, but the reality was that it kind of always existed. '80s stuff was still in the cultural zietgiest all through the '90s. "The Wedding Singer" with Adam Sandler released in 1998 is the earliest example I can think of that tried to do a specific setting in the 1980s. Within a few years we also got "American Psycho" and "Donnie Darko" which were hugely popular. Fox Television also tried to capitalize on the popularity of "That '70s Show" with "That '80s Show" but ended up cancelling it after 1 season. By the 2010s we were already in full nostalgia mode with wayfarer sunglasses being back in style and vaporwave and synthwave music starting to become popular. All this shit happened way before Hotline Miami

I think everyone was just naturally Nagelpeople, if you look closely even the black people were pale people.
>Fascist
Unambiguously yes, the cops literally referred to themselves as the biggest gang in town and terrorized all the gangs into not doing crime while they left for Cop Prom, they used the time to rehabilitate themselves and fix their communities, the cops promptly brutalized and killed them all for fun after seeing them dancing in the streets.
