Stuff where the multiverse is part of the premise isnt comparable to having it shoehorned into an ongoing episodic story that wasnt about that.

>>149038692 That's a crossover. Multiverse would be alternate universe versions of the spies (actually sounds doable and full of pontential fetish fuel).
GOOD MULTIVERSE SHIT LIST >Futurama ("So there are infinite parallel universes?" "No, just the two") >some bits of the first spiderverse movie cant think of anything else
>>149040995 I liked Invincible's take A yo-yo killing a viltrumite was bullshit though Oh I also like the arc where Mark goes to a universe that at the first chapter with all his current memories, that was neat.
How to write a good multiverse >don't constantly bring it up or center the entire plot around it >don't just have alternate versions of existing characters as the only inhabitants of other universes >don't use it as a loophole to avoid the consequences of some big event like a character dying or a plot twist after you've had your fun with whatever amazing change to the status quo you came up with >don't impose an arbitrary limit on how many universes are in the multiverse
>>149041599 Okay, that's fair, but I was addressing the kind of complaints that I could remember noticing the most about multiverse stories. Obviously it takes more than following a short checklist to write a good story, but I wasn't trying to make a list like that in the first place.

>>149041271 It got old from the many shitty ones. The comic book industry likes to play out cool concepts because they're stumped about how to produce good comics.

The Multiverse as a concept is just this generations version of time travel. Some grand sci-fi concept that's so big and vague you can use it anywhere and make up whatever rules you want for it. And just like when time travel became such a common, mainstream idea that it spawned countless movie and show ideas one after another we're now in that era with multiverses. Or rather, we've been in that era since the first Spiderverse hit and blew up like crazy.
>>149035334 (OP) Iโm cool with the concept it if itโs done right, too. I just mainly only hate the MCUโs gay ass version of the multiverse, really.
>>149035334 (OP) Positive examples of homosexual couples who are otherwise normal people in cartoons has helped make the latest generation of young homo adults less degenerate.

My problem with multiverses is that they throw all these cool ideas at you and then do nothing with them ever again.

How to avoid writing responsibilities >Magic: A wizard fixed it! >Time travel: We changed the past! >Reality reshuffling: Our universe changed! >Multiverse: It's a different universe!
>>149035334 (OP) It was done much better in old books and comics than in modern comics, cartoons, and live action.

>>149035334 (OP) Shared universes are fine if done in moderation, like characters from different shows when they're all made by the same creator. Multiverses are often just a mess and an excuse to not have to commit to the narrative.
>>149041221 Invincible is the worst usage of the multiverse. It was just an excuse to have a Viltrumite invasion of earth without having to actually come up with new characters. It's just a bunch of Marks with slightly different designs. The laziest slop possible.
