There's no sense of harmony. Take an idea then throw a contradiction into it so people both know what the character is and that there's more to her than meets the eye. No vitiligo, no eyepatch, no mole, something in her character. Dress her accordingly.

This character is not communicating any specific sense of personality. It seems like you started from a place of “what should I draw” as opposed to thinking about how the character should make you feel or what they’re about. As such, it feels like you went directly into details with specific proportions and body parts instead of letting the expressivity of more basic shapes and lines guide your decisions. I’d probably start from simplified shapes first (like max of 3 ellipses and/or blocks connected by lines) and put something together that can “feel” right in a variety of poses. Then drill down into specifics from there.

I think you could lean a touch more into classic archetypes to help better communicate what these characters are about. There are some cool details about these characters that make them interesting, but the underlying shapes that make up their constitution could use some work.

You're saying this because of the way she is dressed, but I'm talking specifically about shape language. You can figure out who she might be based on some detailed context clues, but a well designed character for animation can (and some may argue should) be able to convey information about the character based on the basic shapes alone. If you saw this character in silhouette and couldn't see her clothing or facial expression, a lot of what you've gleaned from what type of person she is would be erased.

It also doesn't help that the character lineup is the 2d animator equivalence of a T pose. They all stand in neutral positions with hands down by the side with the exception of the character posted in OP who has hands neutrally on hips. This is not much different from Kyle Carrozza's "Tada!" pose that he *always* puts all characters in. I get that these are just concept designs, but subtle changes like shifting more of the weight to one leg or making a character stand open vs closed, or even resting hand positions can convey a lot of personality. The fact that they're all standing the same seems to indicate that individual personality and character traits are a thing that will be worked out later or, at the very least, were not core parts of the characters from their inception. If they had started with personality, it would be nearly inconceivable to draw them without conveying a sense of that.

No matter how you feel about the actual designs of the characters, the lines have a sense of "flow", the body shapes can be broken down and represented by just 2-3 simple shapes, and the relatively neutral pose of each character still implies a great deal of personality. Notice the line of action in each character even as they're depicted standing still. While some have straight up and down posture, there's a lot of variation in how characters stand/lean/shift weight even while not necessarily implying motion. We know one character is easygoing vs another being cagey vs another being snooty vs another being timid, etc.

In other words, as is, these characters look like they were designed to stand around and talk. They don't communicate visually, so the assumption is that the entirety of the story will be carried via dialog.

I don't want to make it sound like I'm trashing the designs or concepts. That's absolutely not the point. There are some great ideas here, but they look like early drafts. I think workshopping them a touch will go a long way towards pushing more visual cohesion, interest, and communication.

And sorry, OP. I'm really not shitting on the work. I love the individualized style you've got here, but since you were asking what we thought, I figured I'd try to offer a little bit more than a horny comment about her fat ass and a crack about the fiveness of her forhead.

As much as people bash shape language as destiny (myself included), it does have its place. Not for discerning a personality, I think that’s what body language and gesture is for. I see shape language as another lens to use to figure out a character’s design, the way some things aren’t clear until they’re put under ultraviolet light.

I like them. Ignore the wannabes going on about shape language. I would only suggest making the blonde's head bigger, since hers is much smaller than the rest of the cast. It has a good raunchy comedy look and although fluid animation would be difficult, definitely could work with a stiffer family guy style movement.
