If there is a limit as to how bad you can be before you can't be redeemed, even if you WANT to be redeemed, then it's kind of bad spiritual news for the whole human race. There is more hope in knowing that no matter how far down the hole we go, there is always a chance to turn around.

I always felt the first movie dropped the ball on Tai Lung's and Shifu's relationship. I get that Tai Lung was already at the point where he was irredeemable but it didn't feel like it had proper closure.

Po wasn't wrong but he didn't have the skills to talk Shen down. Denying the pain that Shen had turned into part of his identity was just going to end badly.
