eh, it got a bunch of specials already

The specials were nice, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth that Paul Rudish went and made some of the best Mickey Mouse cartoons in a while only to have it be cancelled in the end. Apparently it wasn't his choice to end this run.

Disney continues proving it's run by people who don't care about quality animation.

didn't they make a decade's worth of shorts/specials? I imagine disney simply hit the point where they felt like they didn't need to produce any more, they have more than enough content to sit on and cycle endlessly on whatever platform they want
I wouldn't have had any issue with the production team continuing, but no the other hand at least the series ended when it was still of decent quality

I remember one time I went to Disney World and saw their fake cable had a "classic Mickey Mouse" channel that promised the theatrical shorts, but when I turned it on it was just the Rudish shorts
Still upset about that even if the Rudish shorts are s'alright

You're right. It's a pretty healthy run all things considered. I just would've liked for the crew to have gotten the final say on when they'd wrap it up for good, but obviously that's an impossible thing to ask from a corporation as egotistical as Gisnep.

If nothing else, I'd love a new ORIGINAL cartoon by any one of the Rudish shorts alumni.

There was a movie pitch about Mickey, Donald, and Goofy hitching a ride on a ghost train. Disney turned it down because for some reason they have no faith in their own damn mascots.

This series had some of Aaron Springer's best work before he lost it entirely. I think he just needed a break from The Sponge, and Rudish's Mickey shorts gave him the perfect opportunity to retain his comedic prowess:
