Season 7 is where Tootie and most side characters last appear in any significant capacity, and of course the Drake Bell movie Tootie which if anything just felt like a waste of a good plot for her. Season 8 is a very short season composed entirely of full length episodes, and 9-10 are the "lets introduce a new character and soft-reboot the show" seasons.

I'm honestly not sure. In many interviews I've seen Hartman bring Tootie up, he often mentions she's Timmy's "True love". Hard to gauge if he's just being cheeky, but a good amount of the early Timmy/Tootie/Trixie love triangle was the going with the idea that the real girl is the one who cares for you, he even had an episode written in the pitch bible. Despite all the autism about her stalking jokes, Butch himself often took care to write Tootie as a low-key heroic character.

I've always thought focus testing and executive meddling did them in, kids (esp K-12 boys demo) wanted more jokes and screaming and less sappy love plots.

FoP peaked with the original shorts on Oh Yeah! Cartoons. At least Bergman tried to make Timmy sound boyish instead of the hysterical screeching of Strong. One of my biggest criticisms of this cartoon while growing up was that Timmy didn’t really sound like a man or even was that masculine in his impulses. At least Jimmy Neutron had the whole “guy who fixed everything when everyone else was stupid” which appeals to boys who feel like they’re smarter than everyone else
