>Critics Consensus: Catapulted by its theme of building self-esteem, Pixar's latest cosmic wonder Elio boasts a fanciful world of original creations to dazzling effect.

Well that's a fucking twist and a half.

This is what they were saying a year ago
>"The upcoming Disney/Pixar animated film Elio will feature the studio's first openly gay protagonist, also named Elio. The movie follows an eleven-year-old boy who is mistakenly beamed up to the Communiverse by aliens and becomes Earth's ambassador. He then forms connections with alien lifeforms and navigates a galactic crisis. While the movie Strange World features Ethan Clade, the first openly gay main character in a Walt Disney Animation Studios film. "

that's not how appeal to authority works. film critics are the relevant 'authorities' for the subject at hand, so this isn't a fallacy. the fallacy requires the authority to be from an unrelated field or for the authorities not to have a strong consensus.
that said, i have no interest in this movie.

This is heading for a $50m ww opening. With decent legs, this is a $225m box office total. This film won't be an Elemental where shit marketing hid that it was a fairly good romance movie so it got insane legs. The film just looks uninteresting.

The film has a budget of $150m-200m so it needs to make $375m absolute minimum.

Thank you; more people need to understand that appeal to authority is more like when a dentist tries to convince you that vaccines cause autism but they say they are right because they are a doctor.

Yeah you are, but not a relevant one.

Yep!
If the critics say it's good I refuse to see it, if they say it's bad I go see it and buy special popcorn buckets out of spite.

Not gonna lie I feel like standards have lowered pretty dramatically in the last 15 years as people have gotten used to how much mediocre schlock is getting churned out, and things regularly getting 80s or 90s would have gotten more like 60s or 70s just a couple of decades ago.

Also RT just aggregates reviews and calculates a percentage, it doesn't rate the movies itself.

It wasn't an analogy? I was just fucking around with the saying "I have no stake in this race."
Also most critics are either retarded or shilling.
