I was looking forward to seeing the Korean stuff, just out of curiosity, and because the girls are sexy.
Pixar is dead.

That's the problem with modern Western entertainment, at least otakus don't pretend that an original IP means an original idea. And the reason is because we have hundreds of new anime every year, unlike /co/ which still recycles decades-old properties.

yeah, I didn't say anything like that.

You have to admit that you lost and that Anime won.

Anon made a shitty point pointing at a much better one.
You look at Miyazaki, Hideaki Anno, Mamoru Oshii, and basically all the guys who defined the 90s anime renaissance and sooner or later, they said something along the lines of "the industry is bleeding"
In Japan, you keep your head down and your mouth shut until you've done something of value, but once you get that card you basically get to talk all the shit you want about the state of the industry compared to the west.
Compare that to the current US industry where everyone are networked-in buddies right now? No one is allowed to say the same shit about the idea of everything becoming regurgitated or recycled tropes.

Nah, just because you haven't watched anime in decades doesn't mean there aren't any good new anime coming out.

I'm not even going to pirate either of these and anyone who watches them for any reason deserves to get hung drawn and quartered.

I'll watch the K-Pop one because it'll show up online in 24 hours. I'm not paying to watch Elio and I'm not gonna watch a camrip of it either.

Also, I won't pay for either.

If "original content" wants my support, it should make an actual effort to be good and interesting, instead of asserting that being "original" warrants everyone's attention and money.

>Two original animated films are releasing this Friday.
>Make sure to show your support so we can get more original content in the future!

I really hate that there are people who are so mind-broken by sequels, remakes, and adaptations that they feel the need to spout this crap whenever an original movie is released. NEWS FLASH--some "original movies" can end up just as bad as some sequels, remakes, and adaptations.

In Elio's case, the movie looks bad compared to earlier Pixar original movies. It also doesn't help that Pixar had to rework the movie and leaned hard into an ugly art style with equally ugly character designs that aren't as marketable as those earlier Pixar hits. I'm not going to see a movie that looks like crap just because it's an "original movie" and I'm sure as hell not obliged to go see it, either.

Also, this >>149055065 and >>149054151

As for K-POP: Demon Hunters, I'll pass because I don't watch Netflix, but at least it doesn't have an ugly, beanmouth art style.

Do we even know WHERE the Kpop movie is going to get its limited screening.
