South park has been like, four or five different shows during its run, using the same characters and setting. Specify which one you hate.

For me, South Park went to shit when the kids (other than Cartman) stopped being assholes. Its initial appeal was how Stan, Kyle, Eric and Kenny weren't like your usual protagonists and were a bunch of little pricks. Not to mention felt like a fever dream version of my own childhood since no other show captures how assholish kids can be as well as early South Park

Come Season 8 or so and Stan and Kyle became of pair of goody two shoes fags. And as the show went on, that happened to the other kids as well, to the point Cartman was the only jerk left. If that drugs are bad m'kay episode came out today, Cartman would be the only one laughing (and that too exaggerated) while the others would poker face and Kyle would tell Cartman to knock it off.

So yeah, South Park went to shit when Stan and Kyle became boring good guys. The nu animation feeling soulless is just shit cherry on top.

True, the asshole kids era was great, although I don't really like the first few seasons. There is something weird and offputting to me about them, like watching the same show from an alternate dimension. It was also way too experimental and took a long way to find its footing. There was that brief golden age, before they tried to "mature" things and have the main characters be goody two shoes. Although even that era has many decent episodes, they were still funny.

To me the show terminally died wihent they started turning Randy into an asshole for no reason and later into a fucking main character with that tegridy weed shit. Like, who the fuck thought that was funny? Not a single SOUL on earth liked it.
