Great show that lasted too long. Classic episodes are kino and have some great jokes in them. Arthur YTPs are soul. Burn the Flash seasons with a flamethrower. Molly remains best girl.

>one of many “normal kid” slice of life shows from the 90s/2000s
>ran on pbs and was ostensibly meant for younger kids
>somehow it was really good and holds up all these years later
I love Arthur. It’s just peak comfy. Probably the show that reminds me of my childhood the most and had me tuning into PBS well passed when I grew out of all the other shows. Arthur is far more entertaining than other slice of life cartoons like Doug or Pepper Ann. The characters are extremely memorable and well written. The show certainly went way longer than it needed to, it should’ve ended before it needed to resort to flash animation. The show’s art style and animation was one of the reasons it was so nice to watch and they just ruined it.

I would try and go home quickly to watch Arthur as it would usually finish as I arrived home. I used to pretend I didn't like it because people saw it as babyish but I could sing the whole theme tune off by heart. DW is a straight annoying bitch and I hate her.

I wish i had watched it more as a kid because it seems like a really comfy show. Will definitely watch more of it in the future with my kid so i can provide more discussion for these threads.

comfy until they started using flash, then it lost all charm

Surprisingly funny and well-written for a pre-school show, still entertaining as an adult

god, yes. hated seeing those unnatural floaty movements on everyone after they switched to flash. But overall I think the show was great, to the point you wonder why it was stuck on PBS since it was better than a lot of Nick shows and managed to be funny without having to rely on constant retarded hijinks to be entertaining

The earlier seasons were the best overall. A few episodes like "Arthur Makes Waves" were comfy and episodes like "The Contest" was based. And then there were episodes like "Arthur's Big Hit," "Attack of the Turbo Tibbles," "Arthur's Knee" went way harder than expected for a kids show on PBS.

The middle seasons before the switch to flash animation were okay at best, although a few episodes like "The Frenskwire Sisters Show" were fun and "The Agent of Change" pulled no punches. In retrospect, however, those Lance Armstrong episodes aged like milk ever since that doping scandal. Those were as awkward as that Milli Vanilli episode of Super Mario Bros. 3, that Mark McGwire mention in an episode of Cyberchase, and that Slammin' Sammy: The Sammy Sosa Story video.

The latter season (seasons 16 through 25) belong in a dumpster fire.

I also liked how "The Agent of Change" was not only a Molly episode, but it took a swipe at Disney. Used to watch it all the time as a wee lad.
I rate it a 9/10 children's show.
