Ehh.../co/ went that way by episode 3. It was already really hard to figure out just why Sam was being a complete dick to him the second they met. Especially when Walker was nothing but friendly to him and wanted to work with him. Then we are supposed to think the guy who actually wants to do something about the international terrorists that blow up banks and kill lots of bystanders is the bad one. And his getting pissed at seeing someone punch his friend to death is also a really bad move. Then Sam wants to be on the side of the terrorist gang in the final episode because....what the fuck?

The TV show was a huge mistake. Making Falcon into the new Captain America was a mistake. It should have been a movie with the question being posed as who should be the next Captain America: Bucky, Sam, or John Walker. Walker failing to live up to what Steve Rogers was should lead to the lesson at the end that none of these guys are - Steve Rogers was Captain America and trying to force a legacy character is stupid, so all 3 should try being their own thing.

Before the show, Falcon was an alright character, but he didn't earn main character, legacy mantle inheritor status in the few movies he popped up in to do his little spin kick attack. It made sense to do a classic "reluctant hero" story in the beginning. But having Sam fully embrace the shield and assembling a new avengers team under his leadership should have happened in 2021, in a movie. Not being TEASED in a 2025 movie.
