I was young and naive at the time of the show, so I took things at face value, eventually I learned about posers and how when grunge bands began to really trend there were people who began to wear the thrift store unkempt hair image chiefly as the fashion of the time but with little interest in the subculture or even awareness of the music tone outside of which bands were popular, much like I became aware happened with Punk and Goth and everything, I basically fumed around like Holden Caulfield over the matter for a bit. The irony isn't lost, don't worry.
Anyway, I'm still not sure now if Debbie was designed with the intention, but if so, well done. Still grating, but for different reasons.
