yeah the way the Direct market works is the retailers buy the copies from the publishers at less than cover price and then try to sell them on

so from the publisher's POV the relaunches do get more sales because a #1 sells better in the resale market, or maybe because #1 with a variant sells better

anyway yeah there's years of data on comichron to support it, but it is also one of the many corrosive practices of the industry that's destroying it

I think UXM is going to continue in it's own self contained universe with a new title.
And Ultimate Spider-Man stay the same and will kick off a new Ultimate universe set in "our reality" and not Hickman's stupid YA dystopia, with actual X-Men and Avengers and no Maker.
That's why the Miles Morales crossover is happening now, I expect Marvel to put up hard walls between Ultimate and 616, to that they have to get rid of the Maker once and for all.
