Thers was an official cross over comic, Super Secret Crisis Wars. The girls had a brief crush on Ben 10, except Buttercup. The story isn't the best, the interactions/relationship between the hero character's are kind of shallow, the Ed's and Mojo are probably the best done funnily enough. But there are some fun gags and Dexter briefly teams up with Buttercup. The girls all seem to think Dexter needs to be protected because he has no powers and Dexter enjoys showing off his intellect to prove them wrong and bragging about it.

From what i've seen Blossom/Brick is fertile ground for lots of tropes women like, from their personalities, to their position as leaders, to the kind of enmity/antagonism/tension one would expect from both characters. And because the RRBs aren't as fleshed out as the PPGs(or at least they weren't for a very long time before Multiversus and Dynamite comics, which i think still kinda contradict eachother), people end up making lots of stuff up in terms of characterization, which probably grants the colour pairings some extra mileage.
