Everything decent about entertainment, animation or otherwise, died in 2008 with the global recession anon. Anything decent coming out is incidental and against the norm, not part of broad social trends or anything picked up by the masses. Animation is not dead, YOU are working on SLOP and you KNOW it. There is plenty of animation that's not slop, but YOU aren't making it. You don't like it, but you're not willing to take the financial risk of going indie, so you just pretend it doesn't exist. The issue is that we’re in a poor state for animation in general:
1. Tons of companies have become more stingy and given less higher budgets to shows, this is why all kids shows of the past 15 years look like beanmouth shit and adult cartoons are motion tweened Family Guy ripoffs, those are the two styles easiest to animate. This is also why reboots/revivals of this decade like P&F and KOTH look significantly worse than they previously did.
2. Most original IPs are doing poorly, tons of new cartoons these days are getting canned after one season. Companies these days have little faith in original IPs and thus market don’t market them well. Should also mention how streaming is affecting the box office successes of original animated IPs in theaters.

I’m sure that the animation industry will eventually get out of its current slump like it did with the previous animation dark age, but if it’ll happen anytime soon is another question

I am serious, pre 2008 shows sucked since they pandered to Christian soccermoms. They had
1. bad animation
2. bad writing
3. bad merchandising
4. bad choreography

Before you bring up Tom and Jerry or Looney Tunes, those were animated shorts done in theaters that were later re-aired for TV. Shorts are high quality in general

What could you possibly want? Animation? Rewatch Lower Decks, Rick and Morty, or any other cartoon.

I can't take /co/ recommendations seriously because this board is like 90% paranoid schizoids and uber-autists.
If I just want a decent action show, or a nice post-apocalyptic show, or a historical fiction, or an action fantasy show I have to wade through recommendations of garbage that some autist only likes because he wants to fuck the female lead, indie crap that the poster only recommends because it's gay and they're also gay, random Euro cartoons that aren't even subtitled because the autistic slav recommending them expects me to speak their fucking language, old stuff that I've often already seen, and rare small snippets of nice animation that, while nice, produce maybe 5 minutes of animation per year, due to the nature of indie production.
