Because he was made around the same time. Most Marvel characters are relatively new in comparison. It suits him in-universe too, being a hero from a bygone era who somehow survived into modernity.

Spider-Man has had variants long before Miles though, Miguel was literally a legacy character and he took up the name since his powers were similar to the Spider-Man of his past. meanwhile Mayday had a very successful solo run and she was Peter's successor.
Anonymous No.149124242 [Report] >>149124263
>>149123972
One of those was from a "possible future" timeline, and the other from an alternate timeline that literally span out of an issue of What If? There were one-off stories where they met, but neither of them were around permanently in the present and being set up as his inevitable successor who would take over from Peter when he retired or died.

A hero having a successor that's outside of regular continuity is no big deal, even if that character is popular enough to sustain their own book or show. Being set up as a legacy mantle in the main continuity and conditioning the audience to just wait for this guy to pass the torch and go away is a terrible idea.

for me it's gotta be Deadpool, he's a guy who's just been absolutely FUCKED by EVERYTHING. Fucked by his circumstances, fucked by his friends, fucked by his enemies, fucked by bad writers, fucked by expectations, fucked by his mind, fucked by himself too.
He's not a good person by any stretch of the imagination but he constantly struggles in a way that is not heroic because he has a noble heart or any of that, it's because in a literal sense you cannot kill this guy: He IS the cancer, so might as well keep going even when there's no hope, if all there is to life is suffering, then let's suffer on and try to make light of it, the audience might enjoy it.
He also is a fan of Captain America and so am I so there's that.

I feel like your argument here boils down to
>He killed millions
>...To save billions
Which is a meme and makes no sense. Even without all that Wade is a pretty shitty dude overall and constantly causes problems for everyone around him. What's important is that regardless of how bad things get he will keep trying to do what's right even though he is rarely ever certain of what that is.
He's not a good person, but he tries to be.

man i fucking love the hulk and the avengers my favorite is the early avengers lineups, hulk, iron man, thor, ant-man, wasp, captain america, scarlet witch, quicksilver, vision, ms marvel, wonder man, hawkeye, tigra. I wish they used some of them more often wspecially hank and janet they seem to get little love despite being there since the early days and hank is probably a top contender for most character assasinated comic book character, any growth he has eventually gets reverted back into the guy who best his wife.
