It's over before it began. I know Mike Judge brought back Beavis and Butthead twice without issue but King of the Hill is a different beast altogether. I have no faith in this show at all, and I loved the original KOTH

Making Bobby a (consensual) cuck would kill the show for me. The old episode where he's dressed as cupid was painful enough.

Thankfully it doesn't seem to be happening, the panel apparently said Bobby is a ladies man now. Maybe he bangs Connie but he's not in a relationship with her, right?

Not quite. King of the Hill's revival at least validates its existence by taking the opportunity to move things forward. This time-skip is a huge deal and opens up the door for some interesting new scenarios the original run never could. Hulurama on the other hand is just spinnings its wheels, and being boring and unfunny doing it.

There were storyboard leaks a few months back just check the archive for it and you'll see for yourself, Peggy swears like a sailor now and is even more grating, and Khan is a sad divorcee who wallows with Bill with his character traits exaggerated. But in general the storyboard leaks plus the previews just don't give me any hope for it.

>>149111066
Here's hoping. From what I've read and heard they're in an open relationship, but this is the first I'm hearing of Bobby being a lady killer. It would make sense given his strong track record in the original series but until I see clips of this I doubt it.
>>149111025
Nope, it's the reason why Hank and Peggy were gone for several years. They saved up a small fortune working for the Saudi Crown and have returned to Arlen to retire. It makes sense it just seems very out of character for Hank, so I'm sure the show will explain why. But I don't have much hope it'll be a good reason or at least a reason that makes sense to Hank.

Yes. The animation looks shit but as far as leaks go I'll wait and see if they're true/how the show handles it. I don't really seem them mishandling anything worse than how they royally butchered Luanne's character in the later seasons of the original run.

I'm not gonna rage about it if it sucks because the old show still exists and is pretty far removed from this in terms of when they were made (so it doesn't exactly feel like a direct continuation even though it literally is), but yeah even as a huge fan of the old show who doesn't get pissed off over shit like "omg Luanne should've become a mechanic/Peggy's moms/etc." I'm just not getting a great feeling about this. I was pretty interested at first but it feels like the more new info comes out, the worse it seems to look.

Not quite sure why. There's no one major thing I can point to but a bunch of minor things like:
>preemptively writing off Luanne because of her VA's death, this is gonna be awkward now that more VAs are dying
>writing of Hank specifically feels noticeably off (other characters seem fine to me honestly)
>show seems to be doing some weird stuff like Minh and Kahn breaking up and Nancy cheating again, which I get works for new story purposes but is a little depressing when the latter's storyline actually worked out well in the last show
>Keeping Bobby's voice the same is pretty weird, I actually think they could've cast someone else and then had Pamela Adlon voice Gracie or Luanne if they hadn't written her off so she'd still have a major role in the show

I thought the Saudi Arabia thing was really fucking weird when the first rumors of it came out months ago, but knowing the rationale for it and that they were living in an isolated American community makes that decision at least make a lot more sense to me.

Overall I'm just not really looking forward to it and am expecting it to be disappointing, though if it's actually good I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Hulurama also tried to move things forward, like with Kiff and Amy and their kids. Even with the timeskip giving them a legitimate reason to change things up, it's still going to be rife with the same kind of Hulurama slop writing that amounts to "hey remember that thing that happened in the original show? Nancy was always hotter when she was cucking Dale. When she was actually trying to pretend to be a tradwife she was a waste of space. Literally the only thing I'm looking forward to right now is that Nancy's gonna be sexy again. Sorry Dale, they made your wife hotter when she's a bitch, and we like it like that.

I guess it's not unrealistic but I think it really sucks. I saw someone who'd allegedly seen a leak or was close to the production or something (or maybe they said this at the panel, IDK) that Dale and Nancy were deliberately on a break, I guess because of Nancy getting tired of Dale's shit, and that at one point Dale dated another woman too. It's weird.

Interesting to see how Jonathan Joss's death will affect this subplot I guess

If that's true they're assassinating all these characters for the sake of cheap drama, damn. I kinda want it to be true now though so we're not stuck in the limbo of "kind of annoying things" that aren't obviously bad enough for the average shitposter to not waste his time defending all of it.

If you work and reside in a foreign country for like 10 months out of a year continuously your income becomes tax free. If Hank is looking for retirement money, that's the way to go.
I'm assuming he went for KOTH's version of Aramco, which means he gets basically a free place to stay, food per diem, and other benefits in addition for tax free income for staying overseas. He's not living in a mud hut, the Aramco compound is like a little slice of the US in Saudi.

To be honest, I'm not the hugest fan of the final few seasons of KoTH to begin with. It wasn't that it was unwatchable but the characters were incredibly flat by that point but it still had some great moments (picture related). If the revival still manages to stay on par (or even be a little worse than the last few seasons) it'll at least be watchable.

Unpopular opinion, but I won't really miss John Redcorn so his VA's passing and him likely being written out won't bother me. Johnny Hardwick not voicing Dale, due to his passing, is worrisome but knowing that Toby Huss will be taking the role has me cautious optimistic.

KotH had a good long run, it didnยดt really leave any good stories on the table. Trying to reboot it 20 years later with half the VAs dead is like trying to reanimate an 80-year-olds corpse after his legs have fallen off. Even if you "succeed", the outcome is going to be terrible.

I'm cautiously optimistic.
I think it's going to be okay, but not impressive. Ultimately it will just end up being 10 new King of the Hill episodes that are only unique in that they form a series epilogue. Even though I like the original run, it's not like every episode was created equally. Out of the new season we'll get some good episodes, some bad episodes, and ultimately I think we'll move on without it causing a major disturbance.
I'm just going to go into it trying to appreciate it for what it is, and then move on with my life.

They made jokes about this shait 15 years ago it other incarnations. Its about how the joke is done. Remember Hank is conservative and treatedwith some sympathy, even if he is also the punchline of the joke, because he's only the punchline SOMETIMES. As we all are. He's an ordinary guy and a nuanced character. Not some uber idort with a high powered job like Stan Smith or Homer Bloody Simpson.

Not that anon but, as you've demonstrated, they did it with very little effort and mostly relied on the self referential angle. They were up their own arse. KOTH will probably be a bit more thoughtful than that and have some actual variety in the writing and humour there.

My hope is that if it's modestly successful, studios will actually take note that if you *are* going to do a reboot/revival/revisit/continuation/whatever with a series, then at least do *something* new or different with it to justify its existence - age up characters, change the status quo, change settings, change themes, something, anything.

My fear is that if it's modestly successful, the only thing studios will take away from it is KEEP REMAKING THE SAME THING EXACTLY THE SAME!!1!

>I don't want it to be successful because corporate execs are retarded and might learn the wrong lesson.
I can see how that's probably going to happen, but then again, you're really letting these hypothetical retarded people effect your emotions too much. There's nothing you can do about them, so you may as well write them off as irrelevant.

I'd love if he's the one who decides not go pursue the relationship further. Like she actually thinks she can juggle a relationship and everything with her studies but he says he just wants to focus on his career and take it easy. You know, the opposite of the guy getting turned down for the woman's individuality trope.

That said I would like to see them together but they kinda nixed that in the bud by not making this feel like the same Connie anymore because of the incessent need to make everything "super different! whoah the world has changed so now everything has to be a little shitty like kahn getting kicked out and stuff!" and now she's entertained multiple partners at once. I don't root for her and Bobby to get together because of that regardless of if she goes back to monogamy or whatever.
