IHNMAIMS was a creator-acknowledged influence for the series, along with Raggedy Ann and Andy and Popee the Performer, and they have literally never mentioned .hack//SIGN whereas they have mentioned IHNMAIMS in other contexts as well. Just because you see a similarity between one series and another doesn't mean anything about where the ideas for it came from.
