It wouldn't. Isom #1 is boring as hell. For something that was marketed as shaking up the industry, it did nothing interesting.
The story starts with Isom trying to save a family friend's daughter from prostitution. Then she is quickly forgotten about because her pimp is Isom's childhood friend and it's more important to Isom to get revenge than save the girl first.
If I remember right the issue ends with no real resolution despite being the size of a regular trade paperback.
