I just know every piece of media above a given budget is made gleefully in bad faith, so I don't fall for anything anymore. I didn't get excited for Scott Pilgrim, which means I didn't bother watching, and so I wasn't disappointed by it. Same for Devil May Cry, same for everything else. My money and time just goes elsewhere.

The people who claim this was anything but misleading advertising are disingenuous, small-souled bugmen. Every single trailer, interview, and promotional piece on the show was explicitly about how they were adapting the Scott Pilgrim comics, directly and faithfully. They explicitly and intentionally excluded any information that the story was going to veer into a wildly different direction.

Whether or not the rest of the show was good or if some people liked it or not is immaterial. They lied about what the show was going to be because they thought they were being subversive and clever. More likely than not, because they were insecure about the show and thought that most people wouldn't watch if it was advertised as a show about Ramona soul-searching and talking to people about the character development she didn't get because the original story didn't happen.

I still think this would’ve worked better, and be better received if it released as a “Second Quest” additional season to an actual adaptation. Instead it’s an odd quasi-sequel to something in a different medium, most people aren’t going to do the required reading, or even see the movie (iirc they even removed it from Netflix shortly after STO released)

The movie was really bad and literally forced BOM to rush the ending. Worse was we got news and even demo animations from cartoon network/adult swim who were thinking of picking it up till the movie happened.

Everyone wanted to see SP finally get the animation it deserved from the start. Instead we got some shitty AU but the animation/style/colours/etc and was great. Which makes this even worse.


The really shitty part is because this bomb'd badly and people hated it. This basically kills seconds/lost at sea ever getting the chance to be animated. Which really stings because seconds would make for a really fun animated series. That most likely would likely gain a bunch of fans/views. Due to not many people knowing the dude behind scott pilgay did indeed write a few other comics. That unironically is better written with better art and not rushed then scott pilgay.
