When did you grow out of Spiderman and how "relateable" he is?

I grew out of Spider-Man when Marvel decided to make a billion versions of him and make Peter the bitch out of all of them too.

Post college.
My parents let me stay in their house until I had a job a moved away.
Peter staying with his Aunt at his age is embarrassing.

I didn't. Editorial intentionally tanked the character out of some ill-defined midlife crisis but everyone else knows intuitively who he is supposed to be. We will eventually look back at OMD and Miles-inspired "ANYONE CAN BE SPIDER-MAN" spinoff obsessions the way we look at mullet Superman today (just with less fondness).

I never did.
As a young black man in his 30s I relate more to Mikes ever since his inception.
Peter just seems okay. More for a boomer in the 20th century to relate to.

I don't understand the relatable angle. Dude is a massive smartie that can make gadgets in his bedroom, didn't have to worry much about school because of how gifted he was and worked as a freelance photographer at 15.

There's nuance to it that a lot of people misinterpret. Peter Parker is not an everyman, obviously. He's a genius super scientist who has super powers.
However, he does go through a lot of things that are relatable, like balancing responsibilities, needing to worry about rent, trying to maintain a social life, etc. He's not supposed to be someone you literally just self insert into whenever you read the comic, even if you relate to aspects of his life.
Whatever justification for what they've been doing to him lately doesn't make sense, and hasn't made sense since OMD

Same. I live in the suburbs and can't stand the city and have never dated a supermodel and am probably retarded but Peter's relatability was never about some one-to-one thing about identical experiences.
Anonymous No.149143152
How is Spider-Man relatable? He lives with a single aunt in a densely populated city full of super-types, is a whiz at chemistry and photography, and his best friend is a rich heir who is a disappointment to his father.

I stopped liking Spiderman when they kept exaggerating how miserable he was and I mean BEFORE that stupid dissolution of his marriage. There's only so much bullshit you can tolerate about being depressive like that before you simply don't care anymore.

Doesn't help that Spiderman has powers and can easily improve his life but chooses the stress and thankless misery. Especially since Spiderman is set in freaking New York, there's a city that needs to be destroyed in real life because it is shit. Why would any hero want to defend that hellhole? Same to the Fantastic Four, Dare Devil, and Punisher.
