I just finished it for the third time recently. Great show. Crazy how I only ended up watching it because of that baseball meme which got me to Seinfeld first.

Really enjoyed it back when it was still airing. Wish they hadn't done that joke cliffhanger, even if I do understand the reasoning because of the previous attempts to cancel the show and the writers wanting to give the network a big fuck you. Can only imagine what the explanation would be if the show could have been revived if only to wrap up that last minute reveal. Also a big shame that the creator passed away.

At least they made sure that a lot of things stayed consistent. Duckman loved his kids despite being an asshole who brushed off his oldest kid's talents, and could scarcely remember the names of his conjoined younger sons, yet it was clear he would die for them if it were to come to such an outcome. That's more than what can be said of a lot of other adult cartoons where sadly, it's always fluctuating between the asshole/dumbass dad characters loving their family one moment, then the next they couldn't care less if their wife or one of their kids is threatened because "funneh"

If the creator were still around, I'd be willing to chance a revival, preferably a one-off that acts like a true finale episode and nothing more. But with him gone, unless some ultra diehard, probably super autistic fan came along, any other person doing it would likely butcher it with a shit artstyle, rewritten characters, and entirely recasted to the point that it might as well be its own thing.

The thing is. Trust is very important and a very seldom few have been able to carry that weight of respect and time with reboots and continuations of a past respective series stories. Which is just gonna take more time for people to understand that notion the right way instead of what it is now currently. And you can't just be a fan, even with autism being the driving force. You have to want to wanna write these characters as if the creator and most of his team were still alive. Characters like Duckman deserve that much respect at their core in giving them that swansong. Even if you're only getting back 1/4th of the original VA cast outing Jason Alexander, Tim Curry, Dana Hill and a few others.

The worst part about it is the episode before the cliffhanger ending was a really boring Star Trek parody. And it's like they could have just made it a two-parter. But apparently, they had no idea what they were doing and thought adding a cliffhanger in the last episode would somehow make the studio add one more season. Like they didn't even have a plan. Although I will say if you stop watching it before the cliffhanger stuff it's actually a really good way to end the series. (Spoilers) Seeing DuckMan finally getting over his dead wife and marrying someone new is the perfect way to end his series-long character arc.
