They literally have already travelled back to Big Bang in Fraction’s run, as a casual trip. They had a spaceship that could withstand the stresses of that environment and even a spacesuit that could do the same.
Also, North literally just googled “material with the highest melting point”. He had Reed use an irl fucking material instead of any of the Marvel’s super tough metals like admantium/vibranium/mysterious or any other supertough or adaptive substances like unstable molecules or Pym Particles. All for the sake of fake tension (yeah right, as of Fantastic Four is going to get vaporised by Big Bang, riiiiight).
This arc was an enormous waste of time. Not only was Doom curing Ben treated as something out of the ordinary (as if Reed hasn’t cured him hundreds of times already and didn’t help to build a machine that can depower Cosmic Ray mutates in the last F4 run), but it was also an excuse to have Ben act as out-of-character as possible, spit on what happened in previous runs, all for a couple of filler issues where nothing of worth happens.
I liked the majority of this run, excluding the Doomwank issues and Reed acting like a bigger fucking autist than ever, but everything related to OWUD is rapidly burning through all that good faith.

It’s only an issue if the writers keep going for low hanging fruit in term of storylines. Low hanging fruit like “what if Doom took over the world” or “what if the Thing was cured”. There’s no fucking way North had never heard about Emperor Doom. And there’s no fucking way he had read any of the old runs because Ben gets cured and then repowered (both things done by Reed, most of the times) a hundred times there. There was no reason for North to do this shit instead of sticking to one-two issue long stories with sci-if bend where F4 fuck around with something original.
I hate how he not only took an old and tired story beat, but also made sure to create a dozen of retarded plot holes (F4 needing to travel to alt universes or Big Bang to repower Ben when we’ve seen many times that any cosmic rays, produced naturally or generated artificially, can and did give powers to Ben and other people dozens of times, F4 being apparently helpless against the environment of Big Bang despite already travelling there just fine, Reed forgetting about the cosmic ray machine he helped build on Spire, and so on) in the process while writing the central character of that arc (Ben) wildly off-character.
