They literally have already travelled back to Big Bang in Fraction’s run, as a casual trip. They had a spaceship that could withstand the stresses of that environment and even a spacesuit that could do the same.
Also, North literally just googled “material with the highest melting point”. He had Reed use an irl fucking material instead of any of the Marvel’s super tough metals like admantium/vibranium/mysterious or any other supertough or adaptive substances like unstable molecules or Pym Particles. All for the sake of fake tension (yeah right, as of Fantastic Four is going to get vaporised by Big Bang, riiiiight).
This arc was an enormous waste of time. Not only was Doom curing Ben treated as something out of the ordinary (as if Reed hasn’t cured him hundreds of times already and didn’t help to build a machine that can depower Cosmic Ray mutates in the last F4 run), but it was also an excuse to have Ben act as out-of-character as possible, spit on what happened in previous runs, all for a couple of filler issues where nothing of worth happens.
I liked the majority of this run, excluding the Doomwank issues and Reed acting like a bigger fucking autist than ever, but everything related to OWUD is rapidly burning through all that good faith.
