Its of course ony my interpretation. I have no interest in what some Wiki reading asshole on Youtube claims to be the truth. Whats the fun in that. The story starts off with a girl dying in the woods, and its not explained why and how she died. However, the only one around is some vagabond who slaughters his own meat, and the artwork tells you stuff like he owns a gun, or that he found (?) and collected toys like girl's dolls. So its implied he murdered her, maybe because she found his hideout.
She children leaving her head act as such, and have different personalities, and a childlike view on things. But you'll notice that the more mature characters mentally and physically, the better they are at surviving. Also they vary in their loss of "innocence". For example:
The main character has an awareness what love is, has leader qualities, but you still notice she has a child-like innocence left, holding tea parties, and overreacting when things don't go her way. She thinks that the vagabonds hair smells nice and kinda crushes over him. I think the murdered girl wasn't scared of him but fascinated.
The villain seems to be a step more mature. She knows how to manipulate using her looks, and marries for power, and gets popular to raise her chance to survive. Her followers however are treated like shit, but dont know it, since they are more child-like.
Finally there's the most, least innocent character. She's even older looking, "sexy", independent, is a great survivalist, noticably wears a bright red dress (see color interpretations), is idolized by the protagonist. She's kinda the maturity waiting within the dead girl.
Meanwhile, all childish characters with their naive and "dumb" view of the world die, or kill each other because of prejudice. They are unaware of danger, like the dead girl was.
Also the more mature characters are aware of the state of the girl's body and can't let go. The most infantile one stays in the body's safety.
