I still can't believe that fucking costume. It's so bad. It's like nobody got the memo that we've all been sick of MCU-style costumes for a solid 5+ years now. Heck, even the normies are passing around facebook memes about how movie costumes are always weird tacti-cool versions with extra lines and strange textures for no discernible reason.

And like, you can do extra lines and strange textures, but the problem with this Superman costume in particular is that it makes you wonder where it comes from—It doesn't have the shameless "my mom made it for me" vibe that the Donner version embraced, nor does it have that alien flight-suit look that of the MoS costume. So where'd he get this costume? No way in hell Ma Kent stitched that together on her sewing machine, and no way in hell it was made by aliens, unless those aliens were watching too many MCU movies. The remaining possibility, then, is that Superman has the capability to manufacture his own costumes in his Fortress of Solitude, and he just has such horrid fucking taste that he thinks this looks good. Grim.

It's just a really tone-deaf phone-in of a costume that needs to be iconic. I suppose, at the very least, it's nowhere near as bad as Superman Returns costume, which was so afraid to use red that they literally made it blue and brown.

I hope the movie is good, but I do have issues with how Superman is portrayed. To me, "stoic presence" is an essential trait of the character. Unfortunately, I don’t get that feeling from this portrayal. Instead, he comes across as overly emotional and impulsive — qualities that don’t align with the Superman I know.

Nothing in that scene actually necessitated bringing the scene into downtown Smallville, Snyder had Superman lose his temper so that he could make more buildings explode and tear up an IHOP. If you write a Superman with the presence of mind to not endanger innocents, he should have kept the fight confined to the lands around his farmstead, and if he is supposed to not have that presence of mind, he should have at least checked himself after seeing the wreckage of the gas station and those grain silos. Instead he launches right into goading Zod about how the yellow Sun radiation is too much for him. The problem was never just that he was angry at the bad guy.
