Yeah, it used to be a lot more popular, nowadays it's just kinda there.
It does have a treasure trove of old forgotten webcomics,a hit random and get a comic last updated on 2005 kind of deal.

It's still perfectly functional, and it still has plenty of readers to go around.
It does have some legacy quirks you have to deal with, but nothing too bad, mostly the image size limit and some clunkiness on the whole posting and organizing your comic and page, but then again nothing too cumbersome.
It's a perfectly valid option, I'd put it above tapas and webtoon,even.

The image size limit is very similar to tapas and webtoon actually, which is why I feel is a tad constrictive.
In terms of readers, I don't have actual numbers of course, but I feel like there's more on the duck, you'll get a lot more people reading on the duck than on tapas even if have more subs and post the exact same comic in both.
But webtoon, yeah no contest, webtoon has a lot more readers, but I feel like webtoon is actively hostile to both reader and creator alike, so I can't recommend it too much either.
