Not him and yeah "Poor marketing" is a massive cope in a lot of ways but no seriously those trailers were fucking abysmal
Yeah it wasn't entirely on the marketing (a constant stream of mediocrity didn't help reducing the value of the series in people's eyes) but still, piss poor marketing played a part

Hot take: the original Bayformers Autobot cast is basically perfect. You need Optimus, right? And you need Bumblebee. How do you round out the cast, if you need five? I don't think you can do any better than Ironhide, Jazz, and Ratchet. They're some of the most iconic Autobots from G1, and they all have a pretty reliable gimmick (the tough guy, the cool guy, the medic).

I'd be perfectly happy with a new Transformers movie with that cast. I guess they have to add Arcee but she's pretty iconic, too, so I don't really mind it.

Rumour right now is Bay and Cooley are working on 2 films and Cooley's is a sequel to Bay's, so they will release them faster. Same continuity, seems Paramount want a new clean slate and need Bay for nostalgia factor. Probably the new designs will be more Bayish.

I highly doubt we'll be getting either of those. Sure they are properties that could be tapped into but I doubt for Bay at least. He'd go for that. Plus there was Rise of the Beasts and that ended up going nowhere.

>Hasbro isn't willing to risk alienating the G1 crowd ever again.
That's for sure, for better or worse. Then again I wish they'd do something akin to Armada. Not like we've ever seen a live action film take on the aesthetics of something more mecha-like. I think it'd be neat plus Armada was the first incarnation I watched shortly before the Bayverse came about. One can only dream I guess.

Might as well make a sequel to the 2007 one and ignore everything that came after, personally, since we know it's a reboot and has nothing to do with previous films, I think Bay is making a remake of his 2007 film, like Universal remade HttyD recently, of course, this is just remaking an already live action film.

I could perhaps see Bay going in a few different directions

>A full on sequel to The Last Knight.
>A sequel to Dark of the Moon that de-canonizes Age of Extinction and The Last Knight.
>A sequel to 2007 that de-canonizes everything following it.
>A remake of the 2007 with the same characters with different designs and a tweaked story that ends up having sequels that differ from the original Bayverse films.
>A whole new story universe.

Either way we are so back Baybies. Now give us our toyline back

So from what I gathered and understand, Michael Bay is developing a new Transformers movie for Paramount, possibly as director, with a script by Jordan VanDina (Looking into him, he is known as a fast writer for 'weekend scripts' so might just be for a short draft idea rather than a full length script). If Skydanceโ€™s deal to buy Paramount goes through, theyโ€™ll inherit these projects and Paramount keeps the Transformers rights as long as a new movie is in production by 2029. As a note, the deal with Michael Bay has not been officially finalized.

>Bay misses the โ€™bots (and the megabucks): Did you know that Michael Bay is developing a new Transformers movie at Paramount that he wants to direct? Bay, the auteur of explosions and up-skirt shots that defined the first five mega-grossers, had sworn off directing the franchise since his Shia LaBeoufโ€“free Transformers: The Last Knight earned just $600 million in 2017โ€”big, but about half the gross of the previous installment. (Paramount also tired of his astronomical fees.) Yet the franchise has atrophied without Bay, and he himself has not reached those box office heights since even complaining recently about not being able to get movies greenlit.

>Bay approached the studio last year to come back as a hands-on producer and possibly director, and heโ€™s got writer Jordan VanDina working on a script. Itโ€™s one of five or so Transformers projects in development that David Ellison and Skydance will inherit if/when the Paramount sale closes. Josh Cooley, who made last yearโ€™s animated Transformers One, just closed a deal to pursue a live-action take. Thereโ€™s also a possible G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover in development, and the studio has two separate ideas in early stages. Hopefully the Bay project will come together; it really is the perfect match of filmmaker and material. And Paramount can take its time. The studio keeps the rights as long as a movie is in production by 2029.

I doubt Skydance will do it (the gijoe crossover), seems they will choose only one of these 5 projects and go with the best idea to reinvigorate the brand. So it will be a fight between Bay and Cooley on getting their films greenlit.

I can't tell if Bay coming back to Transformers is desperate on Paramount's part or to some extent for Bay (his last real box office hit was his 4th Transformers film)

Either this is probably the franchise's last chance to actually be a big box office success like it once was, if this fails the movie side of the series is flat out dead.

And none of them will be camp and gay like fans deserve. If Starscream and Megatron don't come off as hatefucking and Optimus don't come off like Megatron's ex boyfriend what is you even doing with Transformers?!

Guess I'll just suffer through Bay finding a way to excuse half naked 17 year old girls. Perhaps one he forces to dance under a waterfall at 15 because she's too hot? An awkward scene explaining Romeo and Juliet laws incorrectly?

All the pedophilia and none of the gay robots. Michael Bay is a hack and a pervert.

Seriously? Hasn't Hasbro realized that Transformers is a dying brand? They already burned it into the ground so badly that normies don't give a damn about it anymore. And I would argue that normies never cared.

I see Transformers especially the Bay movies in the same way as Cameron's Avatar. Idiot normies buy into it but don't really like it. And eventually the normies WILL move on. Look if even brands like Batman aren't an assured billion dollar success at the box office going by the last movie then Transformers is deader than dead. The brand can't compete against Batman as such trying to make a new Transformers movies only makes audiences yawn with disinterest.

That would be a good thing. Sometimes the best thing you can do for a franchise is let it go dormant at least for ten years of radio silence.

And then do stuff again with it so that it feels "fresh" without needing to be genuinely fresh. If these corporations think they can nonstop spam something its going to tire audiences. Look at the current state of Ninja Turtles constant reboots to the point people are tired and burned out. That's what's happening to Transformers. You got to let the damn franchise rest.

Are you really young? You seem to be an ESL too.
They've been doing yearly/bi-yearly renames since the 90s...
Line rebrands/sublines, like waves, are due to how retailers purchase items.
Same with mixing series in those lines.

2. Normalfags (especially Americans) HATE animation and donโ€™t consider it real cinema. It is why most of the Disney live-action remakes make more money than their animated counterparts (DUDE! normies these days watch anime, but they aren't going to watch American cartoons in theaters. They wouldn't watch anime in theaters for the most part, either. Animation is considered "cheap" in that most expect it to come free

feels like that's a bit too long to make a sequel to a movie that's the least popular of Bay's quintology.

as a youngin' the humans were annoying. now Im grown and I get it, seeing giant robots fight loses the context of how dangerous and cool it is unless you see humans involved in it. also the robots having human personalities and wanting to protect smaller lifeforms emphasizes their heroism
