I sure hope this thread won't turn into paedophilia.

Just got back from France, I got the first comics format part of Romain Hugault's new book Godspeed, not all that much to go on at the moment, but the drawing is as good as ever. It's nice to have Hugault back doing propeller planes again. He also has a new volume of pin-up wings out, but I didn't get that.

Other thing I bought was Terre Verte, which is about Richard III having faked his death and going off to Greenland. Haven't started that yet.

Some comics I'm looking forward to coming out.

Marc-Antoine Matthieu (the guy who did Julius Corentin Acquefacques) has his next book coming out, it's called L'Infiniment Moyen et plus si infinitΓ©s dans les limites finies d'une Γ©dition minimaliste (Hard to translate as there's a joke in there too I think, but basically The infinitely average and even more infinite within the finite limits of a minimalist edition). The book itself will be the size of a matchbox and come with a magnifying glass to read it. It'll still be 88 pages so probably a real pain in the dick to read, but I love Mathieu's experimentations with format.

Les Sentiers d'Anahuac also looks like it might be good. About the class between the pre-Columbian civilisations and Europe. All the European elements in a black and white engraving style and the American bits in colour and a more codex-like style.

I also wish there was an integrale, or at least a decent, non gayI-upscaled scan of Luxley. A mid 2000s book by Valerie Mangin (Scourge of the Gods, Alix Senator) about an alliance of magic-powered future-seeing tripping mesoamericans invading Europe during the third crusade and Robin Hood fighting a guerrilla war against them.

You've got French artistic / erotic comics, you've got the Franco-Belgian ones, then you've got a huge gap in the middle as no one seems to want to make a middle ground of mature themes done in a lighter way more 'comic' art. Ok, I've seen all the Asterix animated movies and this is my opinion.

>Asterix the Gaul.
It's a very funny movie. I won't talk about the animation because it was the first film and it was released in 1967.
>Asterix and Cleopatra.
It's a notable improvement over the first, a funny movie.
>The Twelve Tasks of Asterix.
It maintains its level and I like the jokes.
>Asterix Versus Caesar.
Meh, I don't like it much. It seems more like a movie with Asterix than a movie about Asterix.
>Asterix in Britain.
Very funny. I like the jokes and the origin of tea.
>Asterix and the Big Fight.
As funny as the previous one.
>Asterix Conquers America.
I love it, I have no complaints.
>Asterix and the Vikings.
I hate it. It doesn't seem like an Asterix movie; it seems like a movie with Asterix.
>Asterix: The Mansions of the Gods
Oh boy, I had my doubts about the CGI, but they managed to adapt the style perfectly, and it's a very fun story about Asterix confronting the advances of society.
>Asterix: The Secret of the Magic Potion.
The animation is good, like the previous one, but the story... it's a mess, not because it's bad per se, but because there are too many things going on. There are like 6 or 7 different stories, and I don't think any of them have enough time.

It confused me be even if it was in french, I was still thinking "wait, it's an american movie, so in the original version, they are saying FRENCH fries, so isn't it a bit stupid if the FRENCH cuistot doesn't know about FRENCH fries?"

"fixation et transmission en vue de la diffusion d’images Γ  caractΓ¨re pΓ©dopornographique"
i.e. production and transmission with a view to dissemination of child pornography images, a crime in and of itself under article 227-23, and this covers both "real" images like photos and representations like drawings.

If it ever had gotten/does get to a competent court, the crux of the argument would be/would have been whether it was pornographic in nature, a key point of the penal code article. So they'll be arguing over whether it was just humorous or meant to titillate or what.

Don't insult the TCHO! Le Magazine stuff and some of the newer French comics as I think they should've gotten translated into other languages (even though they did translate a few Titeuf and Tony & Alberto strips for a UK comic around 20 years ago) as many of the strips they've had have very similar art styles, set up and Humor to the cartoons Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, Teletoon along with some Anime, and Web/Indie cartoons have also had over the years and it'll be like seeing what I've just described has met it's match if they got translated.

Not especially, the article as was in 1998 already stated
>Le fait, en vue de sa diffusion, de fixer, d'enregistrer ou de transmettre l'image ou la représentation d'un mineur lorsque cette image ou cette représentation présente un caractère pornographique est puni de trois ans d'emprisonnement et de 300 000 F d'amende.

It has nothing to do with the grooming, it's just about the child porn angle.

>means nothing because the law itself formerly stated the books were ok.
The law did not and does not state anything about the books itself. The law states generalities, and rulings on specific cases are down to the judiciary system. Previously, no complaints were brought to trial for various reasons, that does not necessarily mean he is innocent or guilty.

>Thats why the feminists are now trying to go around the former verdict
Again, there is no "former verdict", he has been to court once, this year. No verdict was issued because it could not be established that it was the right court. This has no bearing on innocence or guilt. All previous complaints against him were not brought to court, it was decided not to prosecute for various reasons. Again, this does not indicate innocence or guilt.

>" an imaginary criminal could totally groom a kid with the book one day even though all statistic disprove that scenario".
That is not the potential offense and the rationale for the case, that is what some pressure groups have said in their messaging around the books, you need to distinguish between the two.

Look, I think it's bullshit too, but you should get your facts straight. It's not even le feminists boogeymen that are going after him, it's the anti-incest and anti-kiddy-rape pressure groups.

A bunch of them use assistants, and some are organized in studios to share the workload. Like, a lot of the 70s-80s Journal de Spirou artists were ex Peyo assistants or ghost artists on the smurfs, and got some of their own in turn.

Natacha artist Walthery was a Peyo assistant, Scrameustache artist Gos was Walthery's assistant.
Second and third Soda artists Gazzotti (of Alone fame) and Dan were Tome & Janry's assistant on Spirou and Petit Spirou, and Dan was Morris' on Lucky Luke before that. Tarrin and Emile bravo were part of Trondheim's studio. Tome was one of Dupa's assistants on Cubitus. Will, Morris and Franquin were all JijΓ©'s assistants.

Eddy Paape's Uncle Paul, who anons probably only tangentially know through being parodied in Spirou's Youth, had a whole bunch of future franco-belgian big names work on it.

Also some cases of authors having their kids as assistants, like Gos & Walt for Scrameustache or Will and Maltaite for Tif & Tondu.

Muhc like the japanese model, it's a way to do your apprenticeship under a seasoned author and network, and potentially to be a successor to one of their series.

Not sure if Asterix does this, but many "annual" french books are made on a weekly basis with a new page appearing in magazines like Spirou.

Nombrils and Melusine definitely had that, and some pages were actually revised, removed, or totally changed, between the magazine version and the finished books.

Manga artists basically have three systems:

The design selection was first, and a distinctive, record-setting design would promote tourism in the tourism-heavy town of Millau. The bidding process came after that. It's probably not the US release, because they would've force them to add either of the girl's parents to every panel for that one.

It's pretty obvious that the left image is from the American publication (or some other prudish country) since the post is about censorship.
The image is a crop of two panels to show the difference due to censorship.

As for the white edges, it's probably a preview of the book published as an ad in another book or on the back of a book. Why they would've chosen that panel in particular I don't know.

But it isn't, because >>149219729 is the papercutz publication which is intact.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying, you fucking moron. If it is just one panel, there isn't a story, or a gag to fuck up with muh censorship.

The sky is different, the angry mark thing above her head is gone, her hair is different, there is sand being kicked up. Loads of other differences, that no paedos are getting upset about. for all we know, it's from a spot the difference game and anon is a disingenuous niggerfaggot.

If you do not know the actual purpose of the image on the left, you cannot say the reason for the changes is because of muh censorship. I tire of explaining this to anons of subnormal IQ.

nta but of course it's not important she be topless for that reason, the part that impacted the meaning (if indeed it is the same image) was the fact they removed the mark on her butt.

The artist/ex-husband is the one who wants to finish it, and from the sound of it it's kinda conflated with having trouble letting go of their marriage so I imagine she wants nothing to do with it.

Apparently his Gaston continuation was a huge commercial success though, so his publisher will most certainly want him to stick with that.
