The box office tracking has me convinced this movie is going to make $850m and the new argument is that Gunn ruined Superman by making him appeal to the masses
>>149179294 The whole point of that scene is showing misanthropic Bill is retard, he's not explaining how Superman actually is, he's showing how he sees Superman.
>>149179283 (OP) >>149179294 I blame Max Landis for saying 'Superman is just a guy' . He's supposed to be as close to morally perfect as a human can be, not an everyman with superpowers.

Really hoping he can at least capture the spirit of All Star Superman.
Also hoping we get a good amount of full prick Guy Gardner as he's apparently not in the Green Arrow TV series any more.
>>149180072 I think it'll have a lot of All Star stuff, the robots are straight from it, but it's clearly not going to be that same Superman who's been doing this for like fifteen years and has seen it all. Not that he has to, it's just gonna be a big difference

>>149179283 (OP) tracking is an estimate it should make a good $75 to $90M reasonably easily on opening weekend but needs good word of mouth and good audience response to get beyond that. Actual pre-sales so far look better than anything else this year but the really popular movies so far (Minecraft, Lilo, Sinners, etc.) got a lot of walk-up business and repeat business from word of mouth and good audience reactions on their opening weekends.
>>149179561 Was there really any doubt of that? The first one got sandwiched between IW and Endgame, literally the peak of the superhero craze, and even at it's time of release it was seen as mediocre.

>>149181699 Minecraft also had meme magic marketing on its side. It was exactly what 14 year olds who play MC wanted The super hero phenomenon is dead in the water and not coming back. Marvel’s already cashed in on the nostalgia factor before fading into complete irrelevancy
>>149182059 reminder that all the superman fans on this board and site have a vested interest in the financial success of this movie, because any attempt to talk about the content resulted in the director having to capitulate and remove shots from the movie. Now they are just spamming jew while Gunn covers up all the attractive characters.

>>149181699 If it's a genuinely good movie, that + Superman should prompt people to walk in. Even people who've never read a comic book in their lives know Superman. People say he's not popular any more, but he's still iconic, and that plus good word of mouth, if the film is good, should put butts in the seats.
Anon its going to flop or underperform. Superhero movies don't make 800-900 million unless they are event movies ala Spiderman nwh or Deadpool and Wolverine. A new Superman movie in Gunn's new DC universe is not an event. Its not even a big deal. For Gunn's new DC universe films to make that much people need to care about his characters. It is going to take time.
>>149182940 Unfortunately this, superhero movies are no longer as popular as they were a few years ago, or at least not since COVID. And as this anon says, the only ones that make a lot of money nowadays are the big event-type movies like the ones he mentioned. It sucks if the movie flops, because that means we’ll have to endure Snyder’s cancerous fanbase for even more years — but it is what it is.

>>149179875 Superman was Bill’s Superman for 50 years, with variations like George Reeves being a pushy dick instead of a coward. Clark Kent being Superman’s disguise/hobby is a more interesting status quo, and it toughens Superman up when he barely seems to care about being “exposed” (like Reeves or the radio version). “Clark is who I am” is limp wristed faggotry.
>>149182850 >If it's a genuinely good movie It won't be > that + Superman should prompt people to walk in. Superman has mediocre box office relevance for the entirety of the 21st century. We have multiple example of the superman brand in effect. > Even people who've never read a comic book in their lives know Superman. Plenty of people know Snow White, it still flopped > People say he's not popular any more, but he's still iconic, and that plus good word of mouth, if the film is good, should put butts in the seats. Good word of mouth did jack squat for Thunderbolts. This movie is all but guaranteed to flop

>>149183139 Gunntards make a false flag then ridicule it because the actual product is terrible lmao.
>>149179283 (OP) I hope Superman fails and a new era of Batman movies begins. I also hope DC Comics finally restructures and makes Batman the main pillar of the trinity and the leader of the Justice League.
>>149182940 Tickets around me are sold out pretty solidly for night one and most of the weekend, more than I see for most tentpole releases. Most normies (I am one) I know want to go see it too, maybe not opening night. The interest is there as long as it doesn't review terribly.
>get a whole month to themselves in under 50 years of active campaigning vs have to capture 3 branches of government to get close to achieving anything and still can't nuke the wall and make iran pay for it
