I remember the theme song. The one consistent thought I had was that it had clunky dialog. As in, conversation between characters in scenes don't flow quite well, but that's probably because it aired here with English dub.

I know the series doesn't get much art (sfw or otherwise) in general, but I'm surprised there's barely any fanart of the timeskip designs

The OG comic came back years later with a 30th issue. There's a big timeskip. We find out Elena moved away at some point and Zick's been ghosting her for years. When she finally comes back to visit, she notices Zick hasn’t aged at all since she left (she's an adult bttw). He stopped talking to her because he was embarrassed and didn't want anyone to know he stopped aging. They go on a quest that gets his powers back and turns him into an adult. The whole thing's feels forced and OOC. Why they tacked on another consequence of Zick losing his powers, I don't know, but bad as this was, it had awful ramifications on their relationship in the sequel series.

In the sequel, Elena wants nothing to do with Zick or the supernatural. She's a no-nonsense girl who barely gives him the time of day and is dating a Paul in college. Zick's been turned into a bumbling manchild who pesters Elena for attention. It's like a role reversal, with the comic focused on them rekindling with each other.

Due to the premise of both shows, whenever I hear the name "Monster Allergy" my mind goes straight to "Monster by Mistake" (pic related).
Thus more often than not I've found myself wondering why people like "that weird CGI show about a kid with monster allergy" more than once, kek.

Just in case, it wasn't until last year that I finally saw Monster Allergy. Pretty good, though the monster friends became very tiresome very quickly.
