First we found he came into power and became the Green Goblin due to the deal he made with Mephisto and now we find out he became a killer due to him. And if you think Gwen Stacy was the first person he killed then you are wrong this poor guy was his frst victim. I take it this means we will find out he raped his wife and him being a Pedophile to harry is also canon right?. The list of your crimes keep going up Norman enjoy the suffering now osborn fags.

Stupid, it takes agency away from Norman.
>The Devil was behind everything bad in Spider-Man's life
Also stupid, Mephisto vs. Spider-Man is not a fight anyone wants to see in Spider-Man #1000.
Dr. Strange must hate Peter Parker, there's just too much magical shit around Pete for the Doc to never get personally involved with helping him.

Why do writers and editors do this? This is the behavior of an internet troll. Just doubling down on behavior that you know everybody hates.

Marvel is getting the pieces in place for ASM #1000 in late April/early May if the 3 issues a month pace keeps up.
Marvel confirmed last week #1000 is in 2026 and have a series of variant covers to begin counting down starting in September.
So obviously Marvel is going to go into overdrive teasing OMD/BMD. It's going to be All Mephisto all the time.
The Cytorak boys in the last volume, Hellgate another supernatural asshole will be here in two weeks. It's all editorially driven slop

It's a Spider-Man comic, the 1st half will be about Dr. Strange being too busy not having his own comic to help Spider-Man and the big fight will feature everyone's favorite Spider-Man characters the X-Men do crowd control again Mephisto's forces
Pete will have to fight Mephisto 1 on 1 with a Dr Doom assist to save, God forbid Shay, but most likely Aunt May or Mary Jane.
In the end OMD will undone but BND will be untouched so Pete and MJ are still apart at the end, they'll just have their memories and love back. So Marvel can have their cake and eat it too.
And then your soap opera tease for #1001 and beyond really depends on who lives through Venom #250 and ASM #1000.
If Paul is alive, he will propose to MJ and she will have said yes.
If Shay is alive Peter will have proposed to her, I have my doubts on this tho, I think Shay is a Mephisto proxy

โ€ฆWait, three issues a month? I thought ASM was two issues a month.

But seriously, fuck ASM, fuck this Hellgate BS that no one will EVER give a shit about, and fuck Marvel Comics in the ass because they're too chickenshit to do anything genuinely new or awesome because they're in some BS state of paralysis. (Watch this video for context: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBYrbpBiMrk)

If it were me, I'd fire their asses already with the shit treatment they've been giving just for ASM, X-Men, and Ms. Marvel alone.

Anon, don't do this to yourself. Don't build up false hope that ASM #1000 is FINALLY going to be the place where they undo OMD after all the previous times people thought they were going to, and it didn't happen, or like #900 where nothing really happened at all. It's not going to get undone without Disney giving Marvel orders from above, or a total purge of Marvel's editors and writers and replacing them all with actual human beings who want to produce entertaining comics a large audience might enjoy, instead of deliberately trying to make readers angry, and prioritizing their own likes and dislikes over those of the wider audience.

The worst of it is that one of the things that made Norman such a great, compelling, nuanced villain was that he really did love his family, he was just terrible at expressing it, in part because of his awful dad and childhood experiences, in part because of his ideals on what is correct masculinity, but he really did love them, and trying to protect his family, or his inability to properly grieve dead family members ended up feeding into his villainy.

But in Zombie Marvel, Norman's wife didn't actually die, she just faked her death and left him because he was always evil, and she was afraid he might hit her, but not so afraid that she'd take Harry with her, and also Norman sold Harry's soul to the Devil in return for all his successes in life, and instead of retconning any of this, they just keep doubling down on it. It reads like someone at Marvel hates Norman so much but knows they can't kill him, so they just tried to ruin everything about him instead, and retcon away all his accomplishments in life, sometimes with Mephisto. But against all odds, even in his current state, Norman manages to be one of the only compelling characters in modern Marvel.

Jonah Jameson in his Spider-Supporter mech, Gwen Stacy the immortal mutant, Aunt May from that one What If issue, Spider-Boy, that one girl with the slutty Spider-pheremones, that one black guy who watched his own Peter die, that one Gwen Stacy who watched HER Peter die, and of course Spider-Man's evil clone.

Basically when Quesada and Jemas took over, but back then it was a high-energy runner zombie. Since around the 2012 Marvel Now it's been a shambling, mindless walking corpse.

But Norman being a dick to Harry's face while also being motivated by caring about his family was always a thing. Norman literally selling Harry's soul to the devil is just retardedly egregious.

>>149203039
The point I'm trying to make is that the reason he was so compelling is because he was a villain who actually had some redeeming qualities, even if those qualities were ones he was terrible at actually expressing and showing. Nobody really cares about early mystery man Green Goblin before we knew he was Norman.

Which Spiderman Villain or tragedy will Mephisto undermine next?
Did he make a deal with Kraven so he could do his Last Hunt?
Did he offer Kingpin the means to build a criminal empire but he would be forever cursed to hear fat jokes?
Did he make Toomes smart enough to build his wings but made him forever bald?
Did he pee in Dr Connors formula to make it not work as intended?
Did he make a deal with Uncle Ben to never let peter know how many gooks he burnt in Vietnam but in return he would never return to life unlike every other comic character?

To me Norman went downhill since his resurrection. The "goblin serum healing factor" was a mistake. He was always evil, but it never crossed the kind of line where it became cartoonish despite the silly outfit.
He may have been harsh to Harry, but he actually snapped out of his Goblin persona when he heard of Harry's overdose in Lee/Romita's run. Post-resurrection Norman is a cartoon character who may as well be killing babies while eating a dinner made out of endangered species. There were attempts to give him some nuance like Revenge of The Green Goblin mini, but that hardly amounted to much.

Nobody was really interested in giving him much depth past being "Spider-Man's arch enemy and he's really evil" for a long time after his return, and maybe we could headcanon that his own near-death experience and then Harry's death just broke the good that was left in him. Until Slott's retarded retcon that Norman always knew Harry was alive, and who knows how that even works after the later retcon that Harry was actually a clone and nobody knows who made that clone?

It doesn't help that the comics can't stay consistent on exactly what kind of crazy he is, whether the Green Goblin is an entirely separate personality or not, which is the route a lot of adaptations take, and have in turn ended up influencing some comics runs.

Turbo Evil Norman can be a hell of a lot of fun, but keeping that nuance that there's actually some good in him, but he can't even express it properly, so even when he tries to do something good, he ends up doing things a villain would do, that's what makes him one of Marvel's greatest characters. There's some of it during his Iron Patriot phase, where some of the stuff he does is out of genuine effort to control and stabilize the absolute state of superhuman chaos that is Marvel Earth, and protect the world, but he can't help but do things like a villain would. Some of the Gold Goblin stories have been surprisingly good for modern Marvel, even if everything about how we got here is stupid.

Norman's silver age characterization was paper thin just like most other characterizations back then. It was purely JMD who gave him posthumous depth and he continued on this track after he came back along with writers like Jenkins, Ellis, and yes, Bendis. A lot of my favorite Norman stories happened after he came back.

The whole "old goblin vs modern goblin" thing is weird to me, on one hand I get how characters escalating into way more evil, virtuous, jobbery, whatever over time is annoying, though with Norman it's a case where I don't mind

With his original character, there's only really two directions to lean into. Either you make him a more truly insane Jeckyl/Hyde character like the Raimi version, or you make him a sane but evil/sadistic schemer which is what we got in the comics for the most part where yes, the "goblin persona" is sometimes presented as like a voice in his head but it's kind of irrelevant since Norman still is a huge prick anyway by himself

Personally, I don't mind it because he's really good at being "that guy", but also because we already have plenty of Jeckyl/Hyde villains, The Lizard being one of Spidey's other "main iconic foes" having that for his entire schtick kind of is enough for me, because the whole routine gets old fast, you can only do the "I was going through an insane transformationI didn't mean it" so many times esp considering it's already a tale we all have known forever to begin with

Both are leaving by 2026 at its earliest, literally earliest.
Marvel is desperate for new editors that arent related to OMD, DiDio, Harras and Quesada.
Johns would be the biggest Editor choice but he is now dealing with Image, who is on a huge surge again like in the 90's thanks to the Transformers and the Energon universe this time.
