I am really annoyed that Gunn got himself some awful, untrained rescue dog and decided that THIS was how Krypto should be portrayed. I will grant that there is some humor in a badly or poorly or simply entirely untrained dog doing awful, terrible things - and that you would think it would be heightened or dialed up if it's a super-powered dog, but this is mostly just annoying, and I'm a cat person.

I used to take care of any number of dogs, for a friend I would often spend the summers with, he had a two acre property and a lot of his friends, rather than boarding dogs, would dump them on him. I would often help him walk the dogs, etc. Very few of them, even those who were annoying and barked incessantly or would only obey a few people, never were 'terrible' dogs, so it's a shame that this is what normie's impression of Krypto will be for the next decade or two.

This Krypto had a human level of intelligence which was expressed by him thinking in complete sentences in thought balloons and being smart enough to not use his powers to blow Clark's secret identity and to answer to the name: "Skip" when they were pretending to be normal civilians. He was the definition of a well trained dog and man's best friend.

Later runs that depict him as an out of control mutt are typically from many decades later and by writers who thinks the idea of Krypto is silly and are poking fun at the idea and character, not someone who wants to wrote the character well. If you were going to be using the character and doing him justice that's not how you would want to portray him.

The Justice Gang isn’t working for Luthor. He breaks into the fortress only with his enforcers Ultraman and the Engineer, and kidnaps Krypto. When Superman goes to confront him, he gets wrecked by Ultraman and locked up alongside Krypto in Luthor’s pocket dimension.
