This is my take. I can tell it's got heart, but I just don't like the "Newgrounds animator loves anime" angle ever since Egoraptor.

It's sincere in that it It's a goofy cartoon that also loves and respects the anime that it's parodying. It's not just "look at how many anime references and jokes we can shove in here within 10 minutes", it's simply an homage to the anime scene of the 80s/90s while also keeping Speedo's style and humor.

I love that there's all this cope about "shadowbanning" as if this series isn't extremely popular. It's just not a super ultra megahit and it's easy to see why. As cool as it is, it's audience is niche and it alienates a lot of potential viewers simply by having the dumb choice to be a subbed series on purpose.
