Money doesn't have inherent value either, it'd be useless if nobody believed in it, that doesn't mean you have to throw out all your currency. You can still care about being financially secure.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

Nihilism has a lot of coping and coping isn't nihilism, but its human. ALL is worthless, but understanding it doesn't stop you from feeling hunger. You're still tied to fulfilling your body's needs to avoid pain. Someone who is hedonistic or suicidal from nihilism isn't being nihilist but coping from it. As human you should cope.

I do think it is kind of funny that the only real people to not fear death most of the time are the ones that do believe there is a purpose to life. Most nihilists I know of are scared of death because they know there is nothing after that and they will be forgotten and the few that are not scared try to kill themselves. But throw in a Christian or a Muslim who believe life does have purpose and they can face death casualy while nihilists struggle to maintain that level of irreverence. You can't even fault it under instinct because nihilists argue that seeking purpose or deeper meaning in things is in of itself a human instinct, so if they can surpass that through nihilism they should surpass the fear of death as well.
