It seemed to grow organically. Those are all characters that showed up in "normal" adventures and seemed interesting enough to bring back as a spinoff. And while they were all "animal people" there was a nice range in origins, from "fell in mutagen" and "I'm an actual alien" to "my mom fucked a god." I liked it.
