The yellow tang is the most popular tank fish, and a cleaner shrimp would be symbiotically beneficial to the other fish, but they are pretty to the pufferfish!

Yes, the dentist is written to be an irresponsible fish owner. He doesn't do any research into caring for the fish he "saves", he just collects them as trophies from his diving trips to use as a background for his office. This is because he is meant to be the villain of the movie.
