Pretty much any time Punisher kills Jigsaw. Some people are preoccupied with the idea of Frank having a nemesis. They never stop and wonder why exactly some mobster with a fucked up face should be revived so many times.

>hey never stop and wonder why exactly some mobster with a fucked up face should be revived so many times.
Death is canonically optional in Marvel. If you have unfinished business you want to get back to, you'll eventually be revived either directly by magic or science bullshit or indirectly by your death falling out of the timeline.

Literally the only complicating factor is the line to come back can have extra bullshit to deal with depending on which specific version of the afterlife you end up in, and, if you're a fucking idiot, a death god can have a claim on your soul somebody has to get you out of for you to come back.

I'm not sure if this doesn't get brought up enough or it gets brought up too much.

Sandman was way, way better as a hero.
He was never a compelling villain and there are plenty of other elementals who could easily take his niche. It's extremely telling that nobody knows what the fuck to do with him once he became a villain again.

>be Phil Urich
>get exposed to the Goblin serum
>get the mask that activates your powers, pretty interesting concept compared to other Goblins who have powers 24/7
>have a short-lived but a pretty decent superhero career because your mask gets destroyed by a rampaging Sentinel
>No complaints here. A self-contained superhero story with a beginning and an end is nice to have
>years later be brought up in Loners only to be character assassinated but nothing that can't be undone
>COME SLOTT
>Phil is now Hobgoblin who's lamer than both Norman and Kingsley with a cringe and creepy (not in a good way) crush on Nora Winters
>be shilled as an annoying villain until everybody catches onto how lame Urich Hobgoblin is
>instead of undoing the damage done by Slott, everybody (including Slott himself) stars shitting on Phil making him everybody's punching bag and a total loser
And this is why sometimes it's better to let sleeping dogs lie.

One of the worst things that can happen to a character in Capeshit is for one writer to personal find you lame because then it's fucking over after that

Let's be honest here, a lot of Spider-Man villains should have stayed retired when they were (eg Rhino) or should have been given logical outs cause Marvel has no god damn idea what to do with them (e.g. just cure Scorpion's mental illness).

That She-Hulk story had him just be alive again with no explanation, he was somehow a doctor at a hospital instead of being a scientist, and he just got picked to be retconned into a villain because Brevoort blocked Soule from doing this story with an FF character, rumored to be She-Thing.

It's a shame Sony never got their plans for a Nightwatch movie off the ground and forced Marvel into undoing all that.
