Aqua Teen managed to make a funny episode with that trope. But the number one trope I never seen work is.
>Characters have been established to be good friends for years
>Random dude they never met shows up and is totally perfect and immediately loved
>New guy does something scummy to someone in the friend group
>When character tells their friends, everyone immediately dismisses them
>Whole episode is just new guy turning everyone against the one character and at no point nobody questions it
I can't think of a single time this worked.
