This show was better than early seasons Bojack Horseman and had potential to be Netflix's best animated show. It's a shame Netflix couldn't see that.

I liked Brett & Reagan's dynamic and thought the lonely dad was a fun antagonist, but many of the jokes felt "too easy." It also doesn't help that it seemed like one of the most expensive U.S. cartoons to produce, so while I'm not surprised by Netflix's decision to drop Inside Job, the WAY they went about it is what has me miffed.

there's no way it could have kept going without dropping the culture war shit like leonardo di caprio and age gaps, and instead make jokes about real conspiracies and scandals. you could tell it was written by liberals that were never going to delve in to nuance or criticize capitalism

I rewatched the show recently and my opinion on it is mostly the same. Except for Ron. The first time around i was ok with him because I was curious where they were going with him but now that I know his deal I find him incredibly dull. I get he's mostly just a plot device for Reagan's character development but the dude just drags down every scene he's in. It doesn't help that Adam Scott sounds like he's phoning in his performance although it is possible they directed him to sound as flat and boring as possible.

I wish they would have shown him doing more stuff with the illuminati. Show why he hated it so much and show some of the horrible shit they made him do. Or at the very least they could have shown their office and it's turns out to be a bizarro version of incognito with gender swapped versions of the main cast.

They've touched on older "tame" ones like chemtrails and other stuff. Conspiracies have lost their luster nowadays because it's just schizophrenics sucking each other off but now it's affecting other people's lives.

I think her aversion to traditional femininity is probably not that she opposes it but that it requires more work than she cares to put into it outside of work or trying to get laid.
If she kept the pants on like that, it's probably because she got forced into doing it (probably by Myc, which would be one of the reasons she'd give no effort in doing it). If Ron asked her to do it, she'd probably put a week's worth of effort into being the sexiest maid possible, to hilarious or sexy effect.

Funny enough, he hates what the Illuminati are doing but also found Cognito's work to be more disturbing in some ways from the Halloween episode.

I feel bad for Shion Takeuchi. Whereas Hirsch can just fall back on more Gravity Falls book deals after his Netflix project got killed, Shion's probably had to go chasing after another writing gig on someone else's show like before (a short-term gig most likely). Netflix made her dreams come true and then robbed her of that same dream in record time

I think greenlighting S2 and then reneging on it was especially diabolical, I don't know many examples of fuckery like that happening

Imagine being tense for months or years wondering if you'll get renewed, feeling the relief of confirmation, only to be told "nah not happening fuck you" anyway

Well she quickly fell into TV writing after graduating and joining the industry, so it's kind of hard to find any of her actual art.

Fish guy and the tentacle ayy were my favorite characters. Didn't get the point of the asian guy or black woman. Dropped show when it became about the character's mom dating whoever to resolve her own mommy issues

That's where lots of people's minds went to when the cancellation was first announced, but it isn't likely. Tuca & Bertie was at least produced by Tornante and ShadowMachine, separate from Netflix; as for Inside Job, Netflix is both the distributor AND the producer.

I gave it a few episodes but it didn't really seem to do anything creative or clever with the whole shadow government angle.
