How much of what happened to Bill was her fault, and how much was already there from the beginning? Was there a chance Bill would have become an emotional wreck even if he had a loving, supportive wife?

I mean it depends what you mean? Was Lonore a bitch? Absolutely, but itโ€™s more on Bill for getting hung up on her for so long. Like itโ€™s been shown multiple times that his biggest problem is all the defeatist shit he goes for and when he actually puts effort in he can not only do well but excel. But for some reason there is also some universal shit where if Bill does well then Hank suffers.

It's inconsistent.

Was Bill already starting to turn pathetic by the time he met Lenore, or was Lenore the push that set that ball rolling? It's hard to say.

King of the Hill didn't have the most airtight continuity, like how Peggy used Bobby's bike to run away with the turkey when she was threatened by his home-economic skills and then a bunch of episodes later was a b-plot was about her never having learned how to ride a bike.

This is true. The issue is his hair left him and he got a fungus among other things afterwards. One thing after another, non of which were rectified until much later in the series, kept him down. Plus, his friends were a bit shit and never really tried to help him out of any of it.

Everything with the Platters is inconsistent.

>Luanne's dad and mom seemed to be living in the trailer at the start of the series
>Luanne was living with the Hills because her mom stabbed her dad with a fork during a fight in the trailer, which sent her mom to jail and her dad went back to working on the oil rig, implying that he was very much in Luanne's life when he was onshore
>By series end, Luanne just happens to have lived with the Hills, and the oil rig was a cover for her dad being in jail, yet its outright stated that her dad hadn't seen her since she was little girl, per-puberty
>Peggy's mom looked like a chubbier, older version of her who was only slightly demeaning (she hates Peggy's cooking), but had a good enough relationship with her that she often visited them.
>An entire Thanksgiving episode was built around them trying to come to her house that year
>Suddenly, she was a thin, wiry, evil ranch woman who hates Peggy and hasn't seen her since high school

It's a combination of things.

Bill was a high school football legend and charismatic army recruit by the time he was 18. But he missed 'Nam, got assigned to a subpar support position, and got singled out for an abandoned placebo program.
It's implied that the Dauterives were abusive, inbred genetic dead-ends, so his health taking a nose-dive and going bald probably happened pretty early.
Lenore probably met a slightly less than peak Bill, only to marry him when he was on a full downslide physically, which probably built up a lot of resentment on her end. She expected to be married to a strong, handsome armyman, but got Bill. Since he was already use to verbal/physical abuse from his family, he never really fought back when Lenore started getting abusive. It all just wore down on him until he completely fell apart.

Lenore basically just hit a bomb with a lit fuse with a hammer and then ran before the explosion could ruin her life, too.

>Then later she grew up in Montana and somehow went to Arlen for no explained reason. Not too sure when,

The oil rig retcon to prison thing was way too obvious of a retcon to have a Luanne story. Because the early seasons had Luanne there when her parents fought and overturned the trailer.

I really, really hope that the new season completely de-canonizes A Rover Runs Through It and Life: A Loser's Manual both because of the complete disregard for basic established backstory (these weren't niche or obscure bits of lore but central things that had been shown and reiterated multiple times) and because they're just terrible episodes.

Doubtful she was 13/14 when the series ended and bloodhounds usually live for 12ish years so no way she last another 9 years. Might be a snowball 2 situation where they just get another one, maybe an episode where Bobby tries to give them a puppy and Hank at first refuses out of respect for Ladybird but eventually gives in and they name it after another first lady.

When Lucky and Luanne's wedding was suppose to be the series finale they made a point to say that the most outlandish episodes were dreams Bill had.

It probably wouldn't take that much time to construct a "canonical" single year from the first four seasons and a good number of episodes up until the wedding.

Absolutely. I don't know of a single "Christian Punk Rock" kid from the late 90s/early 00s that stayed Christian. They either completely conflated the faith as being equally cringe as the lifestyle or kept going down the punk/metal pathway and considered Christianity as being too conformist.

Peggy always grew up in Montana but people forget that and/or sort of conflate that with how her mother changed design/role a couple times. Like because the Montana episode changes the mother's design so dramatically, they assume it's the first time Peggy being from Montana came up in the series too. But they mention it in the first season at one point.

I think no matter which mother she has, the idea was that Peggy spent her childhood in Montana and then moved to Texas sometime in high school, then she and Hank met.

Religion makes EVERYTHING worse. Christian children's shows are shit, regular childrens shows that are just "ok" turn to shit when redubbed to be christian. Example: The Reppies. I used to mostly ignore that show on PBS, but since it's christ-jacking, I would kill for the original eps and songs from the PBS run.
