I think a girlboss is more when those qualities are aggressively played up to the detriment of any meaningful character or personality, reducing the girl in question to a two-dimensional mary sue whose only mandate is to always win and excel.
There are plenty of girlboss characters who work because they're also human and vulnerable. Collette, Kim Wexler, Joan Harris... Girlbosses aren't in and of themselves a bad thing unless you're a misogynistic incel.
