I guess it makes sense, from a certain point of view.

Deepfakes are only bad for women and powerful people. Free deepfake software is the ultimate tool of the male proletariat to get back at spoiled women and Jews. Of course they're scared of it.

>when they started to brainstorm this, AI couldn't do hands very well and often had loads of random errors, blurriness, etc.
>probably started making this movie as a way to highlight that
>Clayface will likely have errors when he transforms, like weird hands and double eyes and such
>at least one gag about him turning into someone and "IRL deepfaking them" only for the cops to look closer in later photos and realize he's got 6 fingers on one hand
>AI right now doesn't do that shit anymore unless you're using some old-ass model pulled from the depths or some shit legacy site that hasn't been taken down yet, or you're the world's worst proompter
>AI will be even better by the time this comes out, making the whole point moot anyway
This is why it's always dangerous to try to make media about NEW THING BAD/GOOD, you never know what things will be like a few years from now.
Pretty sure this is also why Elio stars the world's gayest minor, it was made back when Bid*n was in office and they 100% expected K*mala to win, only for T*ump to win and make it taboo to have flamboyant children have gay lovers again.

You're making the assumption that it'll just be "Look how bad AI is" instead of Clayface using his ability to be anything to
>Be someone like a celebrity and commit crimes or just impersonate them
>Steal the roles of other actors and actresses
>Straight up remove the need for special effects and teams of people

>"Look how bad AI is"
I mean, that sentiment is definitely going to be there and critics are definitely going to see it that way. AI art is a perfect boogeyman for a Hollywood movie to take a "brave stance" against and for liberal critics to praise its hollow strawman satire.

I meant in the sense of quality. "AI looks bad" is probably only going to be mentioned here and there.

The tech exists, the genie is out of the bottle. People going on about evils of it don't want to stop deepfakes from existing (because you can't) but limit who gets to use the tech.

It's bad for women because people use it to put their faces into porn. Which isn't harming anyone by itself, but then the people have the power to spread the fake video on the internet, which could be potentially harmful to a woman's reputation.

Similarly, for influential people, it's bad because you could theoretically deepfake their face onto some horrific or embarrasing act, spread it online, and do enough damage to their reputation before they have the chance to clear things up.

The regular man is the one who is harmed the least by this technology, because no one cares about the regular man. No one thinks about fucking the regular man too much, and no one cares ruining the regular man's reputation too much. Only the people who rely on their social standing for power and have that to lose are scared of deepfake. It's the violence of the modern (upcoming?) age of technology.

This.
Even "Anti AI art" people cannot disagree because it's affecting live action.
Deepfakes are the only good AI technology.

but aren't "regular men" always being targeted by lying women who accuse them of sexual assault? Wouldn't deepfake technology make it even easier for them to do that?

I was going to say that women, on average, are not tech-savy enough to know how to do that, but if deepfakes become publicly available technology, or even a paid service, I guess that could happen.
