They really haven't changed much in 70 years. You can still find Archie in the grocery store racks. Still recycling the same jokes that they did 70 years ago.

Archie is really the only one to do it regularly, and they do it because they offer to buy back issues if new ones are ordered.
That said, the digests in grocery stores are mainly reprints that used to have some new stories, but haven't had any in years. They still seem to be reeling from covid.

I saw a Dreamwave Transformers comic at my grocery once (Holland) though it's usually just the local comics like Donald Duck or Belgian ones
You don't find comics at grocery stores anymore except for the Archie digests at the checkout lanes. That's because most grocery stores stopped having a magazine section and only sell checkout lane magazines.
50s-60s Archie comics were good because they were written by a genius named Frank Doyle and drawn by classic artists like Dan DeCarlo, Samm Schwartz, Stan Goldberg and Harry Lucey. The new folks just don't have the same spark.
